10 Funniest Tweets About The Euphoria Season 2 Finale

HBO finally aired the season 2 finale of the fan-favorite show, Euphoria. After countless Reddit theories about the season and how it would end, viewers were finally shown the best that Sam Levinson and the rest of the Euphoria gang had to offer in terms of wrapping up the season 2 chaos.

To say that fans had a lot to say would be a complete understatement. Even during the airing of the finale, fans were uploading their live reactions to the show via Twitter, and some of the things they had to say were insightful, heartbreaking, and downright hilarious.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Guys???

Fans had to say goodbye to Ashtray after learning the heartbreaking events that led him to Fez in the first episode of the season. Twitter user @heartsrina paired together two moments in the most tear-jerking way possible.

When Rue was narrating the beginning of Fez’s life in the season 2 premiere, she mentioned that Fez suffered from dark spots in his memory, but the only thing that stuck out was worrying about keeping Ashtray safe and taking care of him. They put that quote right next to Ashtray’s last scene of the series in which Fez couldn’t take care of him.

He’s Still Singing?!

One of the main complaints of the season 2 finale was the rather long musical number that Elliot performed in the middle of the episode. Fans didn’t necessarily have anything against the song–if anything it was a nice tribute to Rue and Elliot’s friendship as one of the best non-romantic relationships on the HBO show.

However, fans definitely had an issue with the duration of Elliot’s song. The serenade goes on for 4 minutes of screen time that fans felt could have been spent on other plotlines on the show. The song itself was great, but a season finale is supposed to be full of action and either full or partial resolution of conflict, and the song took away from that.

Fexi In Season 3

Fans were majorly disappointed that Fez and Lexi couldn’t come together in the finale. Viewers knew that Fez never made it to Lexi’s show, but they held out hope that he would somehow make his way to the theater to share a kiss with one of the show’s most wholesome and classy characters.

Unfortunately, Fexi shippers were left high and dry during the show’s final episode, and Fez was carted off by police with a gunshot wound to the torso with Lexi completely unaware of what happened. In a lighthearted joke that pokes fun at the pain fans are feeling, Twitter user @RivoluseElysium edited this picture of Fez in a jail cell finally reunited with Lexi and captioned it, “The first scenes of Euphoria season 3 leaked.”

Right Person, Wrong Time

Continuing with the Fez and Lexi heartbreak, @fexihq sadly posited, “They were the definition of right person wrong time during this episode” about Lexi and Fezco continuing to miss out on their love connection during the finale.

Fez and Lexi are two Euphoria supporting characters with major main character energy, and many have said that the supposed Romeo and Juliet plot of the show is about them instead of the previously assumed Rue and Jules. This would make a lot of sense considering Fez’s best friend and “brother” was just killed like Mercutio is killed in the original play.

Team Faye

Faye didn’t do a lot during season 2 besides contributing some of the best and most hilarious quotes. Redditors had some bizarre Euphoria fan theories that suspected that Faye was one of the most dangerous characters on the show and had no loyalty to anyone, but she proved those theories wrong in the finale.

Faye decided to side with Fez and Ashtray instead of Custer, which was a huge demonstration of loyalty for her. She keyed Fez in on Custer’s wire and let him know that he shouldn’t incriminate himself. She even went down with the ship when she heard the police arriving. Fans have shown off their support of her actions with photo edits like this, flaunting Faye-inspired merch.

The Only One In The House…

Maddy was usually cool about Cassie’s betrayal. More specifically, she was too heartbroken to be truly violent. Maddy may have talked about wanting to murder Cassie, but the flashback to their confrontation at Cassie’s house revealed a much more hurt Maddy.

When Cassie showed up to school hand-in-hand with Nate and wearing the necklace he gave to Maddy, Maddy simply went about her day. During one of the best scenes in Lexi’s play, the depth of Maddy and Lexi’s friendship was explored. When Cassie ruined the day for Lexi, that’s when Maddy decided that she needed to be stopped. She wasn’t just doing it for herself, she was doing it for Lexi.

A Long Wait

While audiences everywhere were thrilled with the news that Euphoria was renewed for a third season, they were devastated to find out that the third installment of the show isn’t scheduled to premiere until 2024.

There are a lot of loose ends left at the end of season 2 and many fans were upset that there weren’t more answered questions to tide them over until the next season. With so many unresolved storylines, fans will have to sit with their questions and theories for another two years to finally see if things work out for Fez.

“Show Us Your Boobs”

Sam Levinson has come under a lot of fire recently for the overtly sexual nature of many of the scenes in Euphoria. Sydney Sweeney and even Minka Kelly have given interviews with Cosmopolitan and Elle respectively talking about having to ask for fewer nude scenes for their characters on the show.

Fans have become highly critical of Levinson after hearing this and have become hyper-aware of the scenes involving Cassie on the show, and Twitter user @oliveluver used the extra’s ad-lib line as a dig at Levinson and a commentary on the attitude he has about the necessity for nudity onscreen.

The Art And Artists

This season had a few iconic showdowns between nemeses of the Euphoria main characters. Between Fez’s brutal beating of Nate in the season 2 premiere to Maddy and Cassie’s confrontation in the final, there’s been quite a bit of violence across the board.

As a cheeky reference to some of the butt-kicking, Twitter user @ruesdaya made collage of “the art and the artists” showing both Nate and Cassie against Maddy and Fez. Although, some fans would argue that they hoped Cassie and Maddy’s fight would have been a little longer.

Ash Wednesday

Fans everywhere are mourning the loss of poor Ashtray after he was killed in the raid in the finale. Coincidentally, the Wednesday after the season 2 finale happened to fall on Ash Wednesday, a Catholic holiday that marks the start of the season of Lent.

In an adorable tribute to the fan-favorite kid drug dealer, @ihatefeet420 on Twitter marked the calendar holiday as a day to honor the fallen Euphoria character, saying, “can’t believe they gave my boy a whole day.”
