Will (Cole Sprouse) and Stella (Haley Lu Richardson) can’t come close to each other, which is a shame since they fall deeply in love while they’re both in the hospital for their battles with cystic fibrosis.

Based on the young adult book series Beautiful Creatures by Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia, this movie stars Alice Englert and Alden Ehrenreich as Lena and Ethan.
These teens fall in love as they learn that Lena will become a “caster” (a type of witch) as she turns 16 years old. She could become good or evil, and it’s a pretty wild thing for her to wrap her head around. This is a perfect film for those who love a supernatural love story.
6 Every Day
For Elena Gilbert, love isn’t easy and she chooses between the Salvatore brothers, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley). Fans of this teen drama will enjoy a romantic movie that also features a complicated relationship, why is why they’ll like Every Day.
Adapted from the David Levithan book, the movie is about Rhiannon (Angourie Rice) who develops feelings for “A,” a figure who looks different every single day as they are constantly moving through different bodies.
5 Warm Bodies
Nicholas Hoult plays a zombie who falls for a human teenage girl named Julie (Teresa Palmer) in Warm Bodies.
Released in 2013, this fun movie tells a similar story to The Vampire Diaries as it’s about a human who has a relationship with a supernatural creature. And like TVD, it definitely has a happy ending.
4 The Fault In Our Stars
Shailene Woodley has had many TV roles and one of her most famous movie parts is in the movie The Fault In Our Stars.
Released in 2014 and based on the book by John Green, the movie tells the love story of Hazel and Augustus (Ansel Elgort), two teenagers who have cancer. While it sounds like a bummer and it’s definitely very sad, it’s an incredibly sweet and moving tale that has a lot of funny and light-hearted moments. It’s a sweeping story that will be perfect for those who love watching Elena fall in love on The Vampire Diaries.
3 Midnight Sun
Looking for another teen movie about forbidden romance? 2018’s Midnight Sun fits the bill, as it tells the story of Katie (Bella Thorne) who has a certain disease that means that she can’t go out into the light. Her skin is super pale so this would be dangerous for her.
When she falls in love with Christopher (Patrick Schwarzenegger), this becomes complicated, and this will remind viewers of Elena’s complex love triangle with the Salvatore brothers. It’s also a pretty tragic tale.
2 Black Christmas
The 2019 remake of Black Christmas has a lot in common with The Vampire Diaries. It’s about strong females who stand up for themselves and what they believe in, it’s about a group of characters who are so close they’re basically family, and it’s pretty scary.
TVD keeps viewers guessing as it’s a very fast-paced show where things are constantly changing, and that’s how audiences will feel about this movie, too.

Riverdale can be dark and feature some deaths, and the TV drama’s Lili Reinhart stars in the equally dark 2020 movie Chemical Hearts. Her character, Grace, is reeling from a terrible loss that happened in the past, and she and Henry (Austin Abrams) start seeing each other as they meet working on the school newspaper.
The movie has romance, tragedy, and some tough moments, just like The Vampire Diaries, even if it lack the supernatural element of the popular TV show.
