Adam Scott & Martin Starr Share Party Down Reboot Costume BTS Images

Party Down stars Adam Scott and Martin Starr post behind-the-scenes pictures of themselves in wardrobe in anticipation of the show’s revival. Party Down initially aired for two seasons on Starz in 2009 before being canceled due to low ratings and Scott’s departure to appear on the long-running Parks and Recreation. The revival is expected to see a return from most of the main cast members including Jane Lynch, Ken Marino, Ryan Hansen, Martin Starr, and Megan Mullally.

Party Down follows a group of caterers working in Los Angeles as they wait for their big breaks and the various colorful characters they serve at affluent events. Scott has confirmed that filming of Party Down‘s new season will start in January 2022, with a six-episode limited series. Original creators and writers John Enbom, Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge, and Marvel’s Paul Rudd are expected to return, with Enbom show-running the new episodes.

Both Scott and Martin posted pictures of themselves in preparation for filming to begin, showcasing the white button-down and pink bowtie combo that makes up the look of the character’s uniform. Scott adds the caption “Shortest wardrobe fitting ever,” likely in reference to the fact that the costume designers already knew how Scott’s character would dress. Martin simply stated, “The bowtie is back.” With wardrobe fittings already happening, it indicates that filming is to begin very soon. Check out the picture below:

Party Down has received a cult status from fans since its cancellation, with their strong support leading to the revival. With Scott’s rise to success following his critically acclaimed performances in Parks and Recreation and Big Little Lies, it’s understandable why he would want to return to the role that put him on the map. Lynch and Starr also found success following Party Down with lead roles in Glee and Silicon Valley respectively.

In the current age of reboots and revivals, it’s becoming more and more common to see shows come back, with nostalgia being one of the biggest moneymakers in entertainment today. Similar to Mullally’s Will & Grace revival or Hansen on the Veronica Mars continuation, Party Down holds extra nostalgia value for not receiving the long run fans thought it capable of, thus giving the revival the chance to rectify its early cancellation. Even without former star Lizzy Caplan returning, Party Down‘s third season is expected to have all the familiar faces and sharp writing fans have come to expect from the series.
