All Of The Angels From Lucifer, Ranked

Part of what makes the show Lucifer so interesting is the diverse cast of characters. Not only is there a wide range of human personalities, but there are also angels, demons, and Nephilim as well. This range of species opens up new realms of possibility within the story. Much like humans, not all angels are created equal.

Each has unique traits and tendencies that form individual personalities. Obtuse Amenadiel is, in many ways, his aloof and charming brother’s opposite. The angel of death is surprisingly sentimental. Uriel is cutthroat and single-minded. Which Angel comes out on top? Check out this list ranked from worst to best to find out.

Updated on June 26th, 2021, by Gabriela Silva: The acclaimed celestial crime show Lucifer has come to a close after five seasons. Fans were pleasantly surprised as they got to see more of Lucifer’s grand family than just Uriel, Amendaiel, and Remiel, to name a few.

Seeing as Lucifer’s siblings happen to be heaven’s mightiest angels, the final season introduced more of them as Lucifer and Michael battle to become God. When it comes to some of the well-known biblical angels, fans were shocked at how the show decided to depict them on the small screen.

12 Michael

Michael became the central antagonist in season five of the show as he flew down from heaven to take advantage of Lucifer’s leave back to the underworld. His grand plan? To pose as his twin brother Lucifer to trick Chloe and ruin his life. This supposed good angel takes the cake for being conniving, manipulative, and feeding on people’s fears.

In his time on the show, at his worst Michael even forces Dan’s hand to learn the truth about Lucifer. His manipulative ways go as deep as controlling God himself. What really makes Michael the worst of the worst is in the final episode, during the battle amongst angels, he kills Chloe and feels no remorse for taking away Lucifer’s true love.

11 Gabriel

Fans were hoping for a bit more from Gabriel (Kimia Behpoornia), the supposed Angel of Revelations. The angel was instead a woman who had Lucifer believe was on his side. Gabriel even helps Lucifer send a message to the Goddess of God’s retirement but in reality, she was working for Michael.

Gabriel traveled to the Void to retrieve the pieces of the flaming sword, the only thing that can kill an angel. Despite her bubbly and joyous demeanor, Gabriel is wicked in her own way. She never believed that Lucifer of all people was worthy of redemption, much less to become God.

10 Uriel

The family drama deepened when Uriel showed up. Played by Michael Imperioli, this angel has a bit of a mean streak. He came down from heaven explicitly to kill his mother. If matricide isn’t enough to seal his spot in the last place on this list, he also threatened the detective. He knew he could exploit Lucifer’s feelings for Chloe to control him. His love for the detective would make it impossible for him to stand idly by while she was harmed.

Uriel’s cruelty is harsh, even for a show about the celestial. In the end, Lucifer decides he must kill his brother to protect both women. Lucifer is racked with guilt over Uriel’s death and it’s hard for the audience not to feel bad for him. In hell, Lucifer relives the moment he stabbed him over and over as his own personal torment.

9 Raziel

Raziel (Kellina Rutherford) loses a lot of brownie points and here’s why. The female angel supported Michael from the start but she starts to have a guilty conscience. As she worked as Michael’s henchwoman, she becomes dismayed by the violence Michael has them commit.

She’s even more scared by Michael’s intense hatred towards humanity and his other siblings. In a clear moment, she joins Lucifer’s side during the battle but is so consumed by Michael’s fear tactic that she goes back. In the end, she only kneels to Lucifer after he grants Michael mercy.

8 Ibriel

The angel, Ibriel (David Anthony Buglione) only appears in the show’s final episode as Michael and Lucifer battle for the throne in heaven. Not much is actually know about the character in the show. By looks alone, he’s a tough guy and warrior with a mean face.

Ibriel is one of the first to immediately join Michael’s side in the battle as, like other popular TV angels, he believes that humans have no worth and distrusts them entirely. Once seeing that Michael is defeated and Lucifer grants him mercy, Ibriel is one of the siblings to bow down to the new God.

7 Jophiel

There’s no better way to describe Jophiel (Miles Burris) than a muscular bone head. He’s first seen in the episode, “Is This Really How It’s Going To End?!” at Lux with Lucifer. Jophiel accepts to be convinced by his brother to join forces against Michael.

The buff angel never actually planned to help Lucifer. He only accepted the meet-up so that he can go to Lux, see women, drink, and party. While he and Lucifer have a good relationship, Jophiel believed more in Michael as he was their father’s right-hand man.

6 Saraqael

Everyone has a weakness that Lucifer can easily exploit. After all, he’s all about one’s true desires. He tries to appease one of his siblings, Saraqael (Ginifer King) by bringing in a celebrity chef she has a crush on. Amongst the siblings, Saraqael isn’t that bad as she originally supported Lucifer in the rebellion against God.

As Lucifer tries to rally his supporters, Saraqael doesn’t give him a clear answer. The main reason why she is unsure is that Lucifer doesn’t fully know why he truly wants to become God. In the end, she supports Michael to only kneel to Lucifer after he wins.

5 Zadkiel

Zadkiel (Joel Rush) proved himself worthy as an angel by the end but it wasn’t that way in the start. Zadkiel had no issues expressing his extreme dislike toward Lucifer and even spit on the ground in front of him. When Lucifer claims he is in the running to become God, Zadkiel opposes.

The Angel of Righteousness only agreed to hear Lucifer’s side because he has top-shelf liquor. But he’s swayed when Lucifer finally tells the truth as to why he wants to become God – to prove himself worthy of Chloe. In the battle, Zadkiel is the only angel to switch sides and fight alongside Lucifer.

4 Remiel

Amenadiel’s sister is even more awkward than her brother. She makes no effort to hide her wings or blend in with humans. She carries a large spear and wears her garb in public unaware of the attention she draws to herself. Remiel is able to sense celestial beings and her ability allows her to sense a newcomer on earth. There’s only one explanation; one of her brothers is about to father a child.

Remiel (Vinessa Vidotto) is a pious angel with a strict moral code. Her heart is broken when she learns that Amenadiel is the father. Remiel is a serious stick in the mud. She wants to take Amenadiel’s unborn child back to the silver city regardless of Amenadiel’s wishes. By the end of the show, she redeems herself when siding with Lucifer to become God. She may hate her brother, but she hates Michael more and it ultimately led to her death.

3 Azreal

Azreal is the angel of death and it’s her blade that Lucifer uses to kill Uriel. She may be the angel of death, but don’t let that fool you—Azreal has a soft side. She befriended 8-year-old Ella Lopez after a terrible car accident.  To ensure her young friend isn’t scared away by her identity, Azreal presents herself as a human spirit. As a ghost, Azreal becomes her best friend.

Over the years, she carefully influences Ella to move to LA. Azreal wants nothing more than to bring her favorite human being and her brother close. It’s her selfless love of those around her that endear her to viewers. Who says death can’t be compassionate? In the show’s last episode, fans wept as Azrael appeared before Lucifer but as foreboding to a vital death.

2 Amenadiel

Lucifer’s older brother Amenadiel provides a large amount of comedic relief on the show. His deadpan delivery makes him one of the funniest characters. Amenadiel came to earth to convince his younger brother to return to hell. He slowly discovers a more human side of himself and gets closer to his brother as the show progresses.

Amenadiel’s relationship with Dr. Martin adds depth to both characters. The couple produces a Nephilim son named Charlie. Amenadiel eventually embraces a home on earth. Amenadiel has come a long way from chastising Lucifer for his past, but in the end, he comes to be Lucifer’s closest ally again Michael.

1 Lucifer

It may seem too obvious to rank the titular character first, but Lucifer has earned his spot on this list. Lucifer immediately found his rhythm among humans. He’s charming, personable, and playful. Lucifer’s open mind and celebration of free will are two of his most admirable traits. He reserves judgment until he sees a person’s character for himself.

Lucifer is also fair, generous, and willing to give a fair bargain in exchange for his favors. Above all, he rose above the image of evil many saw him as and opened his heart to love. Riddled with guilt and anger towards his father and family, he still forgives them and proves his worth to become God and to Chloe.
