Among Us: How to Kick Out Problem Players

With so many people enjoying Among Us, and the Internet being what it is, there are bound to be trolls and people who want to ruin the game for everyone else. In Among Us, players need to work cooperatively. They roleplay as a maintenance crew working on a spaceship or outpost to fulfill their job responsibilities. However, while they work, an Impostor or two will try to sabotage their work and kill them. Crewmates have the ability to converse with one another any time a dead body is reported and will need to decide who is safe and who should be ejected from the airlock. Normally, those who are ejected are suspected Impostors. However, sometimes, the lobby host and the rest of the group will need to make a decision to eject someone for deliberately causing trouble.

Among Us is a strictly multiplayer experience, meaning players will always be in a lobby with a group of friends or strangers. Not everyone plays nicely all the time. Some players might spam the chat, throw the game, or otherwise break the rules. Lobby hosts can kick out and ban problem players prior to the start of a match, or put it to a vote to the rest of the team once a game has begun. The process for banning or calling for a vote about banning another player is fairly simple and worth knowing as the game becomes more popular and attracts more trolls. Here’s how to kick out and ban players in Among Us.

How to Kick Players out of a Lobby in Among Us

The main reason a lobby host might kick someone out prior to the start of a match is if that player has an offensive name or is spamming or being cruel or inappropriate in the pre-game chat. Lobby hosts can see all players’ names while waiting for them to join, and they can see the text chat by clicking or tapping the Text icon, shaped like a speech bubble, in the top-right corner.

To ban someone prior to the start of a game, the host only needs to click or tap the Boot icon just under the text chat icon. This will pull up the list of players and allow the host to either Kick them from the lobby or Ban them entirely from ever reentering.

If a player does not start to act inappropriately or mess up the game until the match begins, the lobby host, or any other player, can call an emergency meeting to discuss banning the individual. They can also just wait until a dead body is reported and the discussion begins.

All other players will need to vote on whether to kick out the offending player in the middle of a game. This ensures the lobby host cannot abuse this power during a game to help them win.

Among Us is available for PC, iOS, and Android devices.
