Attack on Titan: Levi And Zeke’s Battle Comes To An End

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Attack on Titan Chapter 137

Levi Ackerman and Zeke Yeager’s long-standing bout has just ended in a very anticlimactic way in Attack on Titan. The manga is set on a world wherein gigantic humanoids freely walk outside the walls humanity has built to save itself. After witnessing his mother getting eaten by a Titan, Eren Yeager, along his two other friends, resolves to join the military. The training is where they meet their closest friends, who are also the other main characters of the series. After they’ve graduated, most of them choose to join the Survey Corps, which is where they first meet the most badass people in the series. Levi Ackerman is the Survey Corps’ ace as well as their instructor. He even manages to fight and defeat multiple titans alone.

Zeke Yeager, Eren’s brother and the Beast Titan, is probably Levi’s greatest adversary. They first meet during the Beast Titan’s first appearance. Using his strength, Zeke hurls a clump of stones towards the military. His attack also catches Erwin, which eventually kills him. Levi faces him with a horse-riding unit. But when he gets near enough, he faces the Beast Titan head-on and even manages to almost kill him. Their second face-off happens when Zeke turns the other members of the Survey Corps into Titans and leave them to finish off Levi. Even then, Levi manages to defeat the Titans and captures Zeke. Just when he’s about to return with him, Zeke does the impossible, which turns the table and almost kills Levi.

Their third and final meeting finally happens in Chapter 137. After being eaten by a special Titan, Armin manages to enter the world where Zeke is. He also manages to convince Zeke to help them fight their cause. Zeke is hesitant at first, but he then agrees after meeting the previous wielders of the Nine Titans. He convinces them to break out of Eren’s control and fight the other Titans still in Eren’s control.

Because of this, Annie, Reiner, and the others manage to get out of a pinch. After that, Zeke comes out from one of Eren’s humongous spines. The first thing he does after making his appearance is call out Levi, who is riding Falco in his Titan form. At this point, their long-lasting anger hasn’t subsided yet. Needless to say, Levi attacks and beheads Zeke with one swift strike.

With Levi killing Zeke, Attack on Titan finally settles the score between the two. Even though Zeke has redeemed himself a bit by managing to awaken the other special Titans, his previous crimes are still far too grave to be forgiven. Fans have long wished to see his death, and it’s been served by the man who most deserve to see it with his own two eyes.
