Bachelor In Paradise: Raven Gates Gives Birth To First Baby

Bachelor In Paradise alum Raven Gates welcomed her first child with Adam Gottschalk. The couple first met in 2017, when they both appeared on Bachelor In Paradise season 4. They ended up winning the season and have been together ever since. Adam made his debut as a contestant for Rachel Lindsay on The Bachelorette season 13. Meanwhile, his future bride, Raven, was Nick Viall’s runner-up on The Bachelor season 21.

Adam proposed to Raven in May 2019 after two years of dating. While they were initially set to get married in 2020, the pandemic forced Raven and Adam to postpone four times. They finally had their nuptials in April 2021 and made it clear they both wanted children as soon as possible. Luckily, they didn’t have to wait long. Raven announced she was pregnant in July 2021, calling their child a “honeymoon baby.” Now the Bachelor Nation members are officially a family of three.

On Monday, Adam revealed they went to the hospital as his 30-year-old wife was having contractions. On Tuesday, January 18, Adam announced their baby’s arrival on his Instagram Stories. Sharing a photo of the baby boy’s footprint, he wrote, “Little man made it.” The 31-year-old continued, “Had an emergency C-section after pushing for about an hour and a half. Mom and baby are doing very well. Born at 3:33 a.m. 1/8/22.” Adam also posted another Instagram Story a few hours before the birth announcement, while Raven, who once feuded with Rachel Lindsay, was still in labor. In that Story, the power broker gushed that his wife was “an absolute trooper!” Regarding his own mental state, the University of Arizona alum said he was “soaking it all in.” At that time, he asked his 232,000 followers if they thought the baby would be over or under 8 pounds. With the birth announcement, the Dallas resident made sure to include that the baby boy weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces, and measured at 21 inches long. At this time, the couple has yet to announce their baby’s name.

The couple has kept in touch with other members of the long-running reality franchise. Raven’s baby shower featured Bachelor Nation alumni like Tia Booth, Amanda Stanton and Madison Prewett. Though they each failed to find love in their initial Bachelor Nation appearances, Raven and Adam have been one of the reality juggernaut’s success stories for years now. Unlike some other Bachelor In Paradise contestants and winners, the pair chose not to get engaged at the end of their season, a choice that clearly worked out in the long run.

Longtime viewers of The Bachelor and all of the spin-offs love to see happy endings like Adam and Raven–and now their baby boy. And there are more Bachelor Nation babies on the way. Fellow Bachelor In Paradise stars Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon are expecting, with their baby set to arrive soon. In general, the spin-off has a higher success rate that The Bachelor or The Bachelorette.
