Bachelor: Why Chris & Lauren Lane’s Baby Son Needed Hospitalization

Over the Fourth of July weekend, country singer Chris Lane and his wife, former The Bachelor contestant, Lauren Lane shared the news that their baby son Dutton had been hospitalized. Chris initially reached out to fans on Instagram for prayers and to keep the couple and Dutton in their thoughts after they spent the night in the hospital.

Lauren rose to fame after competing for Ben Higgins’ heart in The Bachelor season 20. After receiving the final rose from Ben, the former couple moved in together and starred in their own spin-off show Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After? before calling it quits in the spring of 2017. A little over a year later, Lauren and Chris started dating and Chris popped the question the following summer, sharing a video of the proposal with fans along with a song he wrote that was inspired by Lauren. Recently, the couple shared that their baby boy had been hospitalized, but fans were unsure of what exactly happened.

Lauren updated fans and shared that they thought Dutton had an ear infection and took him to the ER, but after 14 hours, they learned that not only did Dutton have an ear infection, but a common cold as well. The family was kept overnight as a precautionary measure to ensure that Dutton’s ear infection and cold didn’t turn into something more serious.

Thankfully, Dutton had no further complications and was able to leave the hospital the following day. That evening, Lauren shared a picture of the one-month-old napping and let fans know that they were now home and resting. Lauren also provided more details on Dutton’s condition and explained that they have been giving Dutton medication for his ear infection and cold but are still monitoring him to make sure that the virus doesn’t develop any further and turn into a respiratory infection.

Chris and Lauren first announced the news of their pregnancy in early December of last year when Lauren shared a video of an ultrasound of baby Dutton. A month later, the couple found out they were having a boy with a golf-themed gender reveal while Lauren’s family was visiting them in Nashville. Five months later, Lauren gave birth on June 8th, but the new parents didn’t share the news of Dutton’s arrival until the 10th. Along with announcing Dutton’s arrival in her post, Lauren thanked the nurses at the hospital who she described as angels, and expressed how appreciative she was that Chris and her mom had been able to be there with her during the delivery.

During their engagement, Chris and Lauren purchased a home in Nashville, Tennessee with the intent of starting a family soon. Although the couple had quite a scare over the holiday weekend, it looks like The Bachelor star and her husband are happy and enjoying the newest addition to their family.
