Back 4 Blood’s Tunnels of Terror DLC Debuts New Cleaners

The first major expansion for Back 4 Blood, Tunnels of Terror, will arrive in the coming weeks with new Cleaners and Ridden enemies for players to access. Developer Turtle Rock Studios previously teased Tunnels of Terror in a Back 4 Blood content roadmap that made the rounds in November 2021. While the roadmap offered little in the way of specifics about the upcoming DLC release, it did outline much of what players should expect from updates throughout 2022.

Of course, the crew at Turtle Rock plans on rolling out patches that tackle quality of life adjustments. The studio also intends to enhance the gameplay experience with a new difficulty mode, player cards, and melee-based changes. All of the above and more could go a long way in enticing lapsed players to revisit the cooperative zombie game. Whether or not this year’s updates will keep users new and old around long-term remains to be seen, though. Fortunately, the first true proving ground for Back 4 Blood’s post-launch DLC offerings is nealry upon us.

Today, March 1, Turtle Rock shared an infographic on the Back 4 Blood Twitter account (via MP1st) that details the upcoming Tunnels of Terror expansion. The brand-new content goes live across all platforms next month on Tuesday, April 12, introducing players to two new Cleaners – Sharice and Heng – as well as three Warped Ridden enemies, Ripper, Shredder, and Urchin. Tunnels of Terror will further unleash a previously unseen PvE activity known as Ridden Hives, in addition to eight exclusive skins and a host of extra Legendary Weapons, Warped Chests, Cards, and attachments. The aforementioned infographic appears in the post linked below:

Players who own the $40 Annual Pass can expect to gain instant access to the new Back 4 Blood Cleaners and other content in Tunnels of Terror when it launches on April 12. Ultimate Edition and Deluxe Edition owners will also receive the premium DLC at no extra charge. At the time of writing, there’s no official word on how much users who want to buy the expansion à la carte will have to pay.

A spiritual successor to the Valve-owned Left 4 Dead franchise, Back 4 Blood offers an action-packed, four-player cooperative experience packed with an inventive roguelite Card System. The title launched with eight customizable Cleaners in tow, and it’s clear Turtle Rock Studios plans to develop even more characters as its post-release support continues. Once Tunnels of Terror hits digital stores, fans will have no less than two more expansions to look forward to, though both remain shrouded in mystery.

Back 4 Blood is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
