Battlefield 2042: Which Specialists Can Use The Proximity Sensor

Battlefield 2042 offers several specialists for players to use in multiplayer matches that are further classified into different classes. For example, some specialists can heal other players while others can deploy turrets. Ten Battlefield 2042 specialists have been divided into the traditional four-class system, where each has a unique trait. However, EA DICE has made radical changes in the four-class system in Battlefield 2042as only certain specialists have access to exclusive tools.

The Proximity Sensor, better known as the “prox sensor,” is often used to detect players on the mini-map by Recon class players. Some would say that the proximity sensor is a staple gadget to have in a squad to maintain dominance in multiplayer matches. This gadget is unique because players can throw the detector at a target to reveal enemies in the mini-map. The proximity sensor in Battlefield 2042 can also be used to get out of sticky situations, especially when an overwhelming number of enemies are invading an objective.

Despite being an essential gadget to Battlefield 2042 players, the proximity sensor has been linked to causing rubber-banding issues in multiplayer matches. Rubber-banding is a common problem in Battlefield games where players would be pulled back to the starting position if they tried to move. The bug was a significant issue during the Battlefield 4 launch period, and it seems like it has returned. Luckily, only two specialists from the Recon class can use the proximity sensor in Battlefield 2042.

Which Specialists Can Use The Proximity Sensor in Battlefield 2042

Currently, the proximity sensor in Battlefield 2042 can be used by only two specialists in the Recon class:

Casper

Casper can spy on the enemy using a Recon drone and his “Movement” trait as a recon specialist. In addition, Casper can use Battlefield 2042’s proximity sensor gadget for detecting enemies on the mini-map and providing more information to squadmates. Casper is ideally used to fill the sniper role in a squad, as he comes equipped with a Ghillie Suit that helps him stay well hidden in the foliage.

Paik

Paik fills a different role in the Recon class, as she is mostly used in tight spaces and small buildings. She can be used to clear buildings and objects using an SMG or a Shotgun in tandem with the proximity sensor. In addition to throwing proximity sensors in Battlefield 2042, her “Acquisition” trait will spot any enemy on the mini-map who hits her with a bullet.

Players who use either Casper or Paik in Battlefield 2042 will have to adjust their loadouts, as EA DICE has removed the proximity sensor at the time of this writing, presumably to eliminate its rubber-banding issues. There is no word as to when EA will add the gadget back to the game, but it seems like developers are already working on a fix.

Battlefield 2042 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
