Beast Wars Is One Of The 2 New Transformers Movies In Development

Beast Wars is supposedly one of the two upcoming Transformers movies that are in development. The Transformers franchise started back in 1984 when the toyline made their way to shelves, and the cartoon came on TV. In 2007, Shia LaBeouf starred in the first-ever live-action Transformers movie, which re-sparked interest in the franchise.

In total, there have been six Transformers movies. LaBeouf starred in the first three, while Mark Wahlberg was brought in for Transformers: Age of Extinction and Transformers: The Last Knight. The most recent film in the franchise, Bumblebee, was not only the franchise’s first spin-off but was also an attempt to perform a soft reboot. Despite being one of the best-rated films in the series, Bumblebee was barely a box office success and ended up being the lowest-grossing title in the series. Seeing that there is still money to be made with the franchise, Paramount is reportedly working on two more Transformers movies, one of which is said to be Beast Wars.

According to DeadlineBeast Wars will be the newest Transformers spin-off that Paramount will tackle. This specific series and line of toys dealt with robots that turned into animals and bugs such as Optimus Primal, Cheetor, and Waspinator. The film is said to be written by James Vanderbilt, who is known for writing films like Zodiac and Murder Mystery. Deadline is also reporting that Vanderbilt has been attached to Beast Wars since last April and also supported the claim that the other Transformers movie Paramount is developing is set in the Bumblebee universe.

Back in 2017, Paramount had ideas for 14 Transformers movies, but with the critical response from the last few films, the studio had to rethink its strategy. As of January 2019, Bumblebee 2 was thought to be in development, but not much has been heard about it until now. The second Transformers movie Paramount is reportedly developing could be a dedicated Bumblebee sequel or could be another spin-off… of the spin-off. Longtime Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has also expressed interest in an Optimus Prime solo film, but there haven’t been any reports indicating that this is actually happening.

Paramount seemed to be pushing out a new Transformers movie every few years, but it should be reassuring to fans that they seem to be slowing down and working hard to get future films right. If Beast Wars is done correctly, it could be a very lucrative film for Paramount given the Transformers fanbase. Beast Wars could be something unique from the typical Transformers movie, especially if they combine what they learned with Bumblebee’s character-driven formula with incredible action sequences. Beast Wars hasn’t been officially confirmed by Paramount yet, but more Transformers movies are no doubt on the way.
