Biggest Xbox Series X Problems Reported So Far

The Xbox Series X is officially a week old, and like all video game consoles at launch that means early problems have already been reported by users. While some of these problems with the Xbox Series X are pretty minor – like app issues or a controller not pairing with the console – there are some bigger problems out there. Microsoft has remained fairly quiet regarding most of them, but they’ll hopefully be fixed soon.

While early videos showing the Xbox Series X appearing to smoke have been proven false, other problems are a bit more substantiated. Problems are to be expected when a console is so new, but that doesn’t mean they’re any less frustrating when they happen. While some of these Xbox Series X issues have some simple solutions, others still remain a mystery.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

One of the biggest problems with the Xbox Series X is that it randomly shuts down in the middle of playing a game. This has been widely reported, and it appears to affect a wide range of titles. This usually happens right after launching a game, although it can happen at any time. The Xbox Series X simply turns itself off, and no one has been entirely able to determine a reason why. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a good way to avoid this problem right now, but it’s something Microsoft will hopefully fix with a patch soon.

Xbox Series X Loud Noises & Quick Resume Problems

One cause for worry for Xbox Series X users is that the console is reportedly making odd clicking and humming noises. These loud noises have been mentioned enough from multiple players that some people are wondering if the Xbox Series X has a faulty disk drive. While the noise is concerning, and it’s certainly loud, there haven’t been any performance problems reported alongside the noise yet – but it’s still something to keep an eye (or ear) on.

Another major problem for the Xbox Series X is that the 4K Display can become corrupted. When using the HDMI 2.1 to run a game in 4K and 120Hz, a “corrupted image” notification will be displayed. There’s no permanent fix to this yet, but restarting the console can help. Additionally, making sure the TV is updated can help as well.

Quick Resume on the Xbox Series X was one of the most important new features, but it seems like Quick Resume isn’t working with all games the way it’s supposed to. The good news for this particular Xbox Series X problem is that Microsoft is currently working on a fix, so this issue shouldn’t last too much longer.

Overall, these Xbox Series X problems are more annoying that permanently damaging. There haven’t been reports of bricked consoles like the PlayStation 5 has had, so Xbox users shouldn’t be too worried. Hopefully, Microsoft will be releasing firmware updates to fix some of these biggest problems soon.
