Brendan Fraser & Mummy 3 Co-Star Michelle Yeoh Reunite in Sweet Image

Brendan Fraser and Michelle Yeoh, who starred together in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, reunite in heartwarming images. Directed by Rob Cohen, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was the third and final installment in the Brendan Fraser-led Mummy franchise. After its debut in 2008, The Mummy 3 had mixed reviews and earned $403 million globally, making it the franchise’s lowest-grossing film. However, Fraser’s Mummy franchise was largely successful and still enjoys a large fan base.

Since 2008, much has changed for both Yeoh and Fraser. While the former has skyrocketed to success over the last 14 years with leading roles in many highly regarded films, most recently the Daniels’ Everything Everywhere All At Once, Fraser has had a much bumpier ride in Hollywood. After dealing with several personal and career setbacks, the actor has been on the come-up in recent years and is making the rounds in international film festivals for his latest critically acclaimed film, The Whale.

At the Toronto International Film Festival, the co-stars reunited. Film studio A24 posted the reunion images on Twitter with a simple caption that captures the warmth given off by both stars in the photos. See the shots below:

In the two images of the co-stars, the respect and affection between Yeoh and Fraser is palpable. Their appreciation for one another is no surprise, given that both stars are admired for their genuine, down to earth personalities. The two sat next to one another at the festival and were able to share the moment as each received praise for their recent features. Their sweet reunion comes after mountains of viral support for Fraser, with actors such as Dwayne Johnson and Jeffrey Dean Morgan expressing their appreciation for him after the actor’s moving reaction to the six-minute standing ovation The Whale garnered at the Venice International Film Festival. Based on those responses and his joyful reunion with Yeoh, Fraser’s Hollywood peers have fully embraced his return to the big screen.

In light of Fraser’s career reboot, there have also been renewed pleas for a new installment in The Mummy franchise. In 2017, an unsuccessful reboot was attempted in an effort to start Universal’s Dark Universe franchise, which ultimately fell flat. Given the continuing success of Fraser’s Mummy films two decades later, his return could resurrect the franchise. After the injuries the actor suffered in the making of previous Mummy films, allowing him to return to the franchise on his own terms would cement his place in the industry, garner even more support, and continue Fraser’s burgeoning and well-deserved rise.
