Bryce Hall’s He’s All That Cameo Explained: Where To Spot The TikTok Star

Netflix’s He’s All That showcases a number of familiar internet stars alongside TikToker Addison Rae, including a particularly special cameo from Bryce Hall. The She’s All That remake is a Generation Z-tailored gender-bend of the 1999 original teen comedy, focusing instead on social media star Padgett Sawyer (Addison Rae) as she makes-over outcast photographer Cameron (Tanner Buchanan). No teen media nowadays is complete without its influencer cameos, and with its collection of big-name appearances among its cast, He’s All That doesn’t disappoint.

Along with the coming-of-age issues typical of a high school romcom flick, He’s All That pays special attention to social media and its ubiquity among Gen Z. With an influencer replacing the original jock and a photographer replacing the art geek, the Netflix remake refocuses the original film’s theme onto a more modern one centered on personal image and online validation. Despite the film’s over-the-top characterizations of high schoolers, casting a real-life influencer like Addison Rae and populating the high school environment with other recognizable personalities only serves to make its internet-focused theme more true to life.

One of He’s All That’s most surprising cast members is Addison Rae’s now-ex-boyfriend, TikTok influencer Bryce Hall, who appears in the film as a friend of Padgett’s ex-boyfriend. Both stars have massive online followings on TikTok, with Rae boasting an impressive 83.5M followers and Hall with 21M followers. After a largely online break-up, fans were surprised to see Hall appear in He’s All That, especially since neither star had spoken about Hall’s cameo. 45 minutes into the film, during the “Drop it like F. Scott” party scene, Hall makes his cameo as a friend of singer Jordan Van Draanen (Peyton Meyer, Girl Meets World).

Van Draanen is Padgett’s ex and the focus of her attention, as their break-up led to Padgett losing followers online. The singer got famous online for his single that encapsulates the same kind of trendy pop on the He’s All That‘s soundtrack. After being dumped by another girl at the party, the singer joins his friends at a kitchen counter and laments, with Hall and two others comforting him. Though Hall doesn’t actually have any lines in the film, his cameo is more than insignificant, as fans were easily able to spot him on-screen.

Though the pair don’t have any scenes together, the unexpected appearance still generated buzz online, largely due to the pair’s messy break-up in early 2021. After separately moving to Los Angeles to boost their internet careers, Rae and Hall started dating in October 2020, which coincided with the filming of the She’s All That remake. However, after mounting pressure from accusations of Hall cheating on Rae, the pair have since ended their relationship, confirming in March 2021. Though Hall has denied these accusations, any potential appearance of the two of them still continues to stir up contention and speculation online. With He’s All That being Rae’s breakout film and Netflix debut, it’s no wonder then, why Hall’s short cameo was so significant online.

Though the premiere of He’s All That was met with mostly negative reviews, the film’s Bryce Hall cameo, among many other influencer appearances, generated enough conversation to make it relatively popular online. A He’s All That 2 film wouldn’t be surprising, though any sort of follow-up to the Netflix remake remains speculative. For now, fans will have to guess at who might next make an appearance in the franchise.
