Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Will Finally Get Rid Of Hated Feature

A big change is coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War damage flinch mechanics, and fans and pro players alike are excited about the design shift for one of the series’ most controversial – or outright hated, depending on who is being polled – features. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the next instalment in the long-running franchise from publisher Activision, and with developer Treyarch at the wheel, fans are interested in what’s to come, as the studio has been involved in some of the best iterations of the series.

As far as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer is concerned, fans have only gotten a taste of what the future looks like. The Black Ops Cold War multiplayer reveal event showcased a few features on the horizon, and also included a terrifying glimpse at a Call of Duty Zombies mode that looks like it might cash in on some lingering horror elements to provide a more terse, jumpy affair. With that said, the game hasn’t been without its fair share of controversy, as has come to be expected from each release in the franchise – Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War altered trailer contents to avoid being censored in China, and many felt it was an unnecessary move.

One decision being made about Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer won’t be controversial at all, however. Lead game designer Tony Flame took to Twitter earlier today to discuss how Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War damage flinch would be reworked, and the biggest takeaway is that it finally won’t affect the aim position of a player’s weapon. Damage flinch – sometimes called aim punch by players – occurs when a player takes a headshot, causing their in-game camera to shake and throw off their aim. Given that many talented players are more than capable of delivering headshots in heated moments, this often lead to a “fire the first shot, win” feeling in certain situations – and was just a frustrating experience overall.

People are already buzzing about the change to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War damage flinch, and it’s almost entirely positive. The reception hasn’t just been limited to the game’s fanbase, however. Responses from prominent content creators affirming how they feel about the change to Black Ops Cold War multiplayer damage flinch is also helping build up a positive spin on the game’s changes:

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War release date is still a ways out, so there’s plenty of room for more pronounced revisions to multiplayer gameplay to be revealed. For now, though, one small change to Call of Duty‘s most hated feature has fans buzzing about how Black Ops Cold War damage flinch will be the most playable the mechanic has ever been.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War releases on November 13, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC. It will also release on PlayStation 5.
