Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.5 Adds Secret Iguana As Pet Easter Egg

Discoveries regarding Cyberpunk 2077‘s newest update continue to be made, as players have uncovered a new secret Easter egg that allows them to have their very own pet iguana. Developer CD Projekt Red released the long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 1.5 update patch earlier last week. While the patch added several pieces of free DLC to all versions of the game, bringing in new vehicles, new clothes, new apartments, and much more to help revitalize the title, Cyberpunk 2077 was finally made available on current-gen consoles, allowing players to experience Night City exclusively in 4K resolution with ray-traced shadows.

After its troubled launch, CD Projekt Red made improving Cyberpunk 2077 with updates a major focus. CDPR released several patches during 2021 and announced more updates in 2022 after delaying the title’s launch on current-gen versions. Even though the game did well for CD Projekt Red, selling well over 13 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077 at launch, the developer was quite aware that future updates would need to include significant improvements to earn back fan approval. The update has largely been praised for adding several new features, improvements, enhancements, and bug fixes to the maligned sci-fi open-world RPG. And, apparently, it contains some new Easter eggs.

Youtuber Punish showcased their discovery of what appears to be a new Easter Egg in Cyberpunk 2077’s post 1.5 patch that allows players to have a pet iguana in their own apartment. As demonstrated in the short clip, to unlock the pet iguana players must first retrieve their egg from Yorinobu’s penthouse during “The Heist” mission. Once collected and the “Playing For Time” mission is completed, the egg must be placed in a bowl in V’s main apartment and players need to wait 1-2 months for it to hatch. Once hatched, players will have their very own iguana, which they can pet. This Easter egg is a sly nod to the first mission in the Nomad lifepath, where the player as V has to help Jackie Welles smuggle an iguana into Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077 only featured a single pet and it looks like CD Projekt Red is looking to expand this feature for animal lovers and immersion. Nibbles the cat could similarly be unlocked in Cyberpunk 2077 after completing the “Playing For Time” mission and feeding him near V’s main apartment by acquiring cat food. Both animals will continue to remain in V’s apartment at all times and will change positions occasionally, leaving no need for further maintenance from players.

It appears that Cyberpunk 2077‘s newest patch has added a batch full of secrets and Easter eggs waiting to be discovered by curious players. From hidden pets to references to other franchises, the deep open-world of Night City features more than an abundance of secrets, and there’s likely, even more, to be found within its huge map thanks to the title’s latest game-changing update.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on Google Stadia, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
