Dead by Daylight: All Silent Hill Perks For Pyramid Head

One of the key components that has kept Dead by Daylight fresh is the willingness of the game to bolster its impressive range of killers with some of the icons of horror media. On top of an already impressive suite of original slayers, the game has adapted playable killers of all stripes, from big screen staples like Saw trap master Amanda Young and masked-killer Michael Myers of Halloween fame to the realm of TV with the recent Stranger Things crossover DLC bringing the fearsome Demogorgon into the murderous ranks. There is no sign of slowing on this front, it seems; the developers only recently expressed their interest in bringing the hockey-masked horror mainstay Jason Voorhes into the grisly fold. The game has a veritable tapestry of multimedia evil to keep gameplay fresh and engaging.

The most recent addition to this (very literal) murderer’s row is the first to be drawn from video game history. Hailing from 2001’s Silent Hill 2, the imposing force of judgment and guilt Pyramid Head has stomped and slashed his way in, bringing maybe-deserved misery to the survivor’s caught in The Entity’s realm. Known in-game as The Executioner, Pyramid Head brings with him a new array of powers and, importantly, a fresh set of perks that add to his and his fellow killers arsenal of destruction. This guide will break down Pyramid Head’s new Silent Hill themed perks, outlining his contribution to Dead by Daylight.

Dead by Daylight: Pyramid Head’s Unique Perks

Pyramid Head’s perks will only appear in his Blood Web at first. The transferrable “Teachable” forms of the perks, called Forced Penance, Trail of Torment, and Deathbound, are unlocked at levels 30, 35, and 40, respectively. After unlocked at these points, the perks will begin to appear in other killers’ webs. Here’s what the perks are and what they do for the triangle-wearing terrorizer:

Forced Penance: Punishing those who seek to save others from judgment, Forced Penance causes survivors who take a protection hit for a teammate to take on the Broken status temporarily, preventing them from being healed for 20, 25, or 30 seconds depending on the perk level acquired.

Trail of Torment: The only thing worse than facing Pyramid Head head-on is Pyramid Head getting the jump on you. Trail of Torment makes this terrifyingly possible; the perk causes The Executioner to become Undetectable for 15 seconds after kicking a generator, removing his Terror Radius, hiding his Red Stain, hiding his aura and removing the jump scare sound effect. The drawbacks of this ability are that the kicked generator gains a yellow aura, and the relatively long cooldown of 120, 100, or 80 seconds dependant on perk level.

Deathbound: Forcing survivors to sell each other out, the Deathbound perk causes a survivor who heals a teammate for one health level at least 32 meters from the killer to let out a blood-curdling scream, alerting Pyramid head to their location for 45 seconds. Additionally, that shrieking survivor will gain the Oblivious effect when more than 16, 12 or 8 meters (perk level dependant) away from The Executioner, stopping them from hearing or being affected by the Terror Radius.

Pyramid Head has been a force of aggression and destruction in every incarnation he has had in the Silent Hill series. By all accounts, this record seems set to hold up in his Dead by Daylight form. His arrival marks the perfect time for players to brush up on their killer basics, strap on the surely uncomfortable mask, and pick up the brutal blade of The Executioner.

Dead by Daylight is available now on Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
