Death Stranding BT Encounter In The Snow Looks Terrifying In Painting

A talented Death Stranding fan and artist recently showcased their painting of a snowy encounter with one of the game’s most notorious threats, a Beached Thing (also known as a BT). BTs, a hostile entity comprised of the souls of the deceased, are one of Death Stranding’s many threats.

Although Death Stranding released in 2019, the Kojima Productions game experienced a revival due the arrival of this past September’s Death Stranding Director’s Cut. The re-release includes various updates to the original game, such as new weapons, new missions, and more. The game also included an improved melee combat system, despite Death Stranding’s appeal as more of a walking simulator than an action-packed fighter title. One instance of combat in the game is when the protagonist, Sam Porter Bridge, encounters BTs – which are so frighteningly powerful, players have a better chance at survival if avoiding them entirely.

Although killing a BT is a hefty task, Death Stranding provides Sam with a variety of strategies to successfully do so – one of its winning strategies, however, is bizarre. Death Stranding BTs can be killed through grenades crafted with various bodily fluids; such as blood, urine, pee and feces. The most effective item against BTs is the Hematic Grenade, a grenade that features bullets crafted from Sam’s blood and other items.

Perhaps due to Death Stranding’s visually stunning graphics and world, the game serves as a good source of inspiration for scenic art pieces – even if they depict an unsavory encounter with a horrifying BT. The deeply cinematic game, which sweeps across the post-apocalyptic United States, is filled with detailed graphics and can even run with 4k visuals and 60 fps through its Performance Mode. While these graphics make for gorgeous fan art, they certainly make BTs all the more terrifying.
