Deathstroke Actor Reportedly Back For Justice League Snyder Cut Reshoots

Reportedly, Zack Snyder’s Justice League will feature more of Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke, as it’s been reported he’s suiting up for reshoots. In 2017, Warner Bros. and director Joss Whedon massively altered Snyder’s original version of the highly-anticipated DC film. With most of Snyder’s plans taken out of the theatrical cut, it resulted in negative critical reception while also underperforming commercially. With a passionate fandom behind it, a movement was created to get Snyder’s proper cut released. After several years of showing their support for the director, Snyder was finally given the go to bring his Justice League cut to life.

While it won’t be in the cinemas, the Snyder cut will be released on HBO Max in a 4-episode format at some point in 2021. Because of the fanbase’s passionate movement, Snyder will now get to complete the film on his terms and show his real plans for DC Comics’ most beloved team on-screen. Reshoots have just recently begun as actors from the original production are reprising their respective DC characters. As of late, it was revealed that Jared Leto is also joining the Snyder Cut as he’ll be reprising the role of The Joker from Suicide Squad. But it appears that the presence of multiple DC villains isn’t stopping with the Clown Prince of Crime.

Manganiello, who was cast as Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke, is reportedly joining the Snyder Cut reshoots, according to Collider. The actor, who appears in a post-credit scene of the 2017 film, will now be featured more as the iconic DC villain. Manganiello has recently been seen sporting blonde-ish hair, similar to how he looked in the 2017 version of Justice League. It’s hard to imagine it not being for additional Deathstroke reshoots. With the original version of his post-credit scene being part of it, it appears that Manganiello will be filming new content as well.

Deathstroke has been one of the most highly anticipated aspects of the DCEU. Following Manganiello’s casting, Warner Bros. was even developing a solo film centered on Deathstroke at one point. Initially, The Batman with Ben Affleck’s version of the hero was going to have Deathstroke in it too before the Matt Reeves version with Robert Pattinson. But as the DCEU went through a shake-up after 2017’s Justice League, a lot of those Deathstroke plans have more or less been put on ice. But with the additional content that may be coming for Manganiello’s version of the DC foe, perhaps it is the start of a promising chapter for the character’s film presence.

Even Leto’s Joker was originally going to have a few spin-off films with one focusing entirely on him while the other would star him and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. However, with the Snyder Cut, including both of those antagonists, it might signify Leto and Manganiello could get new DCEU chapters themselves. Only time will tell what kind of stories or scenes they’ll both have with the other characters. But with the reshoots set to wrap fairly soon, fans will hopefully start to get a few ideas of what Deathstroke’s role is going to be in Snyder’s Justice League.
