Destiny 2: How to Get Lucky Pants (& What They Do)

The Lucky Pants Exotic Hunter gear received new perks in Destiny 2 Season of the Lost, making this classic armor piece an absolute necessity for all Hunter loadouts. Anyone familiar with Lucky Pants will recall that, before Season of the Lost, the perk Illegally Modded Holster would load a round into a stowed Hand Cannon for every precision hit. Running a Hand Cannon loadout in both the Kinetic and Energy slots benefited most from this perk, but now, Illegally Modded is no longer part of the setup.

While there are no Hand Cannon Seasonal Artifact Mods in Season of the Lost, Hand Cannons did receive a 15% damage increase for all PvE content. For the boss or challenging combatant encounters where no Champions are present, Hand Cannons shine with large damage output. the Lucky Pants perks apply to all Hand Cannons, Legendary or Exotic.

The new Lucky Pants perk allows Hunters to deal more damage for a short time with each Hand Cannon shot that hits. There is an “Out of Luck” cooldown time, during which the Hand Cannons can be reloaded and swapped to, but the effect only lasts for 10 seconds. Additionally, the Hand Cannon Holster mod is permanently part of the pants for zero energy cost, and it gradually reloads stowed Hand Cannons over time. These perks apply to kinetic damage-dealing Hand Cannons like Judgment, as well as any Hand Cannon that matches the subclass energy type.

Destiny 2: How to Get the Lucky Pants Exotic Hunter Gear

The Lucky Pants perks are new, but the methods for getting the Lucky Pants are still the same. Lucky Pants can be acquired from any Exotic Engram while playing as a Hunter in Destiny 2, or purchased from Xur whenever they’re part of his Exotic items inventory. Lucky pants can also be reacquired under the Collections Tab for Exotic Hunter gear, but the stat rolls will be subpar and the Light Level is at the absolute minimum that it can be (1100).

A couple of great Hand Cannons to apply the bonus damage to are the Seventh Seraph Office Revolver, Crimson, and Eriana’s Vow. The Seventh Seraph Officer Revolver is a Kinetic Hand Cannon that is occasionally available for purchase from the vendors Banshee-44 or Xur. Crimson is a three-round burst Kinetic Hand Cannon that can be acquired through Exotic Engrams. Eriana’s Vow is a Solar Hand Cannon that uses Special ammo, and it’s available for purchase in the Exotic Archive. In the video below, well-known Destiny 2 content creator Aztecross demonstrates the amount of damage each of these Hand Cannons can put out against a raid boss while the Lucky Pants are equipped.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia platforms.
