Dexter Season 9 Images Show New & Returning Characters

New promotional images from DexterNew Blood reveal a slew of new and returning characters for the revival. The ten-episode limited series will bring back Michael C. Hall as the beloved titular character and Clyde Phillips as the showrunner since he left at the end of season 4. The Dexter: New Blood will take place ten years after the events of the series finale that saw Dexter living in Oregon as a lumberjack after faking his demise and leaving behind his son over the guilt of his sister’s abrupt and tragic death.

The revival of Dexter will be sharply different than the original series, as previous teasers have confirmed, with Dexter Morgan having relocated to a visually and geographically different location of upstate New York than his previous residence in Miami. Due to his new location and hidden identity now that he is operating under the alias of Jim Lindsay, he will be surrounded by an entirely different community of people. But as many viewers who have watched Dexter know, he has always been known to carry his past with him.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In anticipation of the upcoming revival, EW has shared promotional photos of the cast of Dexter: New Blood, which is a mix of original and familiar faces that will play a significant part in the series. Among the returning is Jennifer Carpenter, who played Dexter’s sister Debra in the original, taking the reigns of Dexter’s Dark Passenger. The images also include Clancy Brown as Kurt Caldwell, who is the unofficial mayor of the town of Iron Lake and is teased to be the central villain this season, Julia Jones as Angela Bishop, the Chief of Police as well as Dexter’s new girlfriend, and Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, Dexter’s son who has since grown up. The teasing images can be viewed below:

The release of these images has also coincided with the new official trailer for Dexter: New Blood, which both give a preview of what is to come. It is clear that the show will continue to emphasize how Dexter persists in having his urges to kill, and it will be interesting to see how that affects him and the people in his community. The cast of the reboot will also include Alano Miller, Johnny Sequoyah, Michael Cyril Creighton, and Jamie Chung.

With the premiere approaching, it will be compelling to see how all these characters play a part in what happens in the series and how they affect Dexter and his decisions. Based on the reveal that Dexter: New Blood takes place over two weeks, it is possible that things will all come together in a quick and abrupt way. It will be exciting to get some answers and see what will occur when Dexter: New Blood premieres on Showtime on November 7.
