Doctor Strange 2 Logo Combines Sanctum Sanctorum & Scarlet Witch Crown

A stunt team hat from the set of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness features an emblem combining the logo for the Sanctum Sanctorum and Scarlet Witch’s tiara/crown. Since taking up residence at 177A Bleecker Street/New York Sanctum in 2016’s Doctor Strange, the MCU’s Sorcerer Supreme (Benedict Cumberbatch) has had his work cut out for him. His second film since the events of the Infinity Saga, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is one of the most anticipated and perhaps impactful projects of Phase 4.

The sequel was originally set to be directed by Doctor Strange’s Scott Derrickson. However, Sam Raimi took over the job after Derrickson’s exit due to creative differences with Marvel Studios. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will mark Raimi’s first Marvel since Spider-Man 3 (2007) and will see its titular character deal with a rapidly expanding multiverse, something hinted at in Disney+’s WandaVision before Loki blew the doors off. That said, Tom Hiddleston is set to return as Loki and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. Despite various pandemic-related delays, the U.K production finished principal photography back in April, and various stars have been wrapping reshoots.

Doctor Strange 2 Updates on Twitter recently shared a photo of the film’s stunt team hat which features what could be the new logo. The emblem intertwining the Sanctum Sanctorum’s iconic window and Scarlet Witch’s crown. Check it out below:

Remarkably, there have been very few leaks concerning this film (at least compared to Spider-Man: No Way Home). If there’s one thing this photo confirms, it’s that Olsen’s character is going to play a major role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Following Scarlet Witch’s experimentation with the Dark Hold in WandaVision’s final post-credits scene, many assumed she would be the one responsible for cracking open the Multiverse. Loki’s finale and Spider-Man: No Way Home’s teaser trailer have made it clear that, at the very least, this will be a joint effort. However, rumors still point to Scarlet Witch, motivated by her grief and desire to see her children again, being an antagonistic force in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While very little is known regarding plot specifics, the above logo does imply either a Doctor Strange/Scarlet Witch team up or showdown.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will likely shape the future of the MCU more than any other Phase 4 film. Ever since the Disney/Fox merger and the introduction of the multiverse theory, fans have anticipated the introduction of the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool; if there was any film prepared to feature a mutant or two, it’s the Doctor Strange sequel. Spider-Man: No Way Home is also expected to include Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men, which supports the idea of already-established characters/actors appearing in the MCU. Regardless, don’t expect any Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness footage anytime soon. The film is set to debut in theaters on March 25, 2022, and, as has been the case with Spider-Man: No Way Home, marketing with likely be scarce.
