The Magic Scorpion Charm is a Talisman in Elden Ring that boosts the attack power of Spells and Incantations by 12% at the cost of reduced damage negation by 10%. While the buff of the Magic Scorpion Charm is undoubtedly advantageous for mage builds, the convoluted method of acquiring this Talisman is a FromSoftware questline of complex confusion. It involves following the story of Preceptor Seluvis, a pompous sorcerer who claims servitude to Ranni the Witch.
It is important to note that if Tarnished completes Ranni’s request first of retrieving the hidden treasure of Nokron, they will be permanently locked out of Seluvis’ questline. In other words, obtaining the Magic Scorpion Charm will become impossible without starting a NG+. Furthermore, while the steps for advancing the Preceptor’s story may vary depending on the player, the primary route for getting the Magic Scorpion Charm will generally be the same for everyone.
To get the Magic Scorpion Charm Talisman in Elden Ring, Tarnished must fulfill several prerequisite steps to unlock Seluvis’ questline. First, adventurers must speak with Nepheli in the Roundtable Hold after defeating Margit the Fell Omen in Elden Ring. Next, talk to her father, Gideon Ofnir, and exhaust his dialogue regarding his daughter. Keep in mind that Gideon’s study will be unlocked once the protagonist has spoken to Enia in the room with the Two Fingers. Nepheli will then relocate to the Village of the Albinaurics once Tarnished have defeated Godrick using her Spirit Summon. Press onward through the village and vanquish the Omenkiller with Nepheli.
Magic Scorpion Charm’s Location In Elden Ring
Next, begin Ranni’s questline by speaking with her in Ranni’s Rise. If she is not there, Tarnished may need to beat Radahn or Rennala for her to spawn into the tower, depending on where they are in the main campaign. Afterward, go southeast to Preceptor’s Set and accept Seluvis’ request regarding Nepheli. Return to the Roundtable Hold and give Nepheli Seluvis’ potion after speaking with her and Gideon a final time. She can be found at the bottom of the staircase near Master Hewg. After she takes the potion, return to the Three Sisters and enter the laboratory hidden by an Illusory Floor northeast of Ranni’s Rise. Interact with the message on the floor that says, “Seluvis’ puppet. Do not touch.”
Go back to Seluvis, purchase all of his wares, and reload the area. He will then request the player bring him Amber Starlight, a Key Item found in an unmarked cave northeast of the Altus Highway Junction. Deliver the Starlight to him, and he will finally reward the player with the Magic Scorpion Charm. Unfortunately, if Tarnished continues his questline, the story will result in Ranni becoming hostile to the protagonist. To remove her hostility in Elden Ring and restore her storyline, go to the Church of Vows and receive an Absolution using a Celestial Dew.
