Emilia Clarke Celebrates Joining the MCU With Sweet Message

Emilia Clarke celebrates joining the MCU upon Disney releasing the first official Secret Invasion trailer. Since gaining worldwide fame for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, Clarke has taken on a variety of other parts onscreen and stage, including in films like Me Before You and Last Christmas, as well as the role of Qi’ra in the Star Wars anthology film Solo: A Star Wars Story. Along with increasing popularity, Clarke has become a critically acclaimed actress, receiving multiple Emmy and SAG Award nominations and many other accolades. Her success has led her to become a highly-sought after actress.

In spring 2021, Clarke was cast in the MCU’s Secret Invasion in an undisclosed role. Based on the Marvel comic book series of the same name, Secret Invasion will serve as a sort of follow-up to both Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home, following a long-term invasion of Earth by the Skrulls, a group of alien shapeshifters. While this premise adds mystery to the series, the recent release of the Secret Invasion‘s first official trailer at Disney’s annual D23 Expo provided clarity. The trailer featured the return of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos, and Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill, along with newcomers Clarke and Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo in disclosed roles.

Clarke celebrated her MCU debut on Instagram upon the first official Secret Invasion trailer release. Clarke captioned the post sharing the first official trailer for Secret Invasion by celebrating some of her co-stars and expressing gratitude to Marvel for letting her into their world. After starring in one of the most successful TV shows ever, Game of Thrones, then joining the Star Wars franchise in Solo, and now debuting in the MCU, Clarke is developing a knack for major projects and franchises. Her role in MCU’s Secret Invasion is still shrouded in mystery, yet her dedicated fans are already celebrating her franchise debut with the trailer’s release. Clarke may surprise even her biggest fans by taking a dark turn in the new series if her character is revealed as a Skrull in disguise.

Although Clarke’s MCU franchise debut in the Secret Invasion trailer only lasts a couple of seconds, her future in the franchise looks bright. While much is to be uncovered about her role and likely will remain so until the series begins to air in early 2023 on Disney+, she’s likely to stick around in some form or another within the MCU’s vast multiverse. Regardless of how long her time in the franchise lasts, Clarke’s mysterious role is already thrilling audiences and adding an intriguing element to the series.
