Every Elder Scrolls 6 Location Possibility, Ranked By Likelihood

The Elder Scrolls 6 is in development and will release at some point in the future. Ever since Bethesda released a teaser revealing The Elder Scrolls 6’s existence, players are been dissecting the short video and speculating where The Elder Scrolls 6 will take place within the world of Tamriel. While rumors and leaks of a possible “The Elder Scrolls 6: Redfall” have proven to be false, that doesn’t necessarily mean the game won’t take place in the provinces that players speculate. There’s still so much that hasn’t been revealed about The Elder Scrolls 6, but players can still make some likely guesses about where The Elder Scrolls 6 will call home.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Players of The Elder Scrolls Online can enjoy venturing all of Tamriel, but it is known that the main Elder Scrolls games usually take place in one or two provinces, beginning with The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. While the first Elder Scrolls game, The Elder Scrolls: Arena, took place throughout all nine provinces of Tamriel, it was The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall that began the pattern of one or two primary nations, with High Rock and Hammerfell being the main settings for Daggerfall, and Daggerfall itself being a city in High Rock. This continued into the rest of the main games in The Elder Scrolls series: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

This pattern of one or two primary locations will likely continue in The Elder Scrolls 6, but the primary question is where? When The Elder Scrolls 6 teaser announcement trailer was revealed at the 2018 E3 event, a brief glimpse of a landscape was shown. The landscape consisted of mountains, greenery, and what appeared to be a city. This was enough to get longtime players speculating about the game’s location. Many players speculated that the environment shown was part of High Rock and that The Elder Scrolls 6 would return to High Rock and Hammerfell. Despite the leaked rumors of “The Elder Scrolls 6: Redfall” being dispelled, Bethesda hasn’t confirmed or denied whether or not The Elder Scrolls 6 will take place in High Rock and Hammerfell, which leaves room for players to still possibly be correct about their theory. However, there are a lot of provinces Bethesda can choose from to be the setting of The Elder Scrolls 6, some of which players have not had the chance to explore.

Least Likely Elder Scrolls 6 Setting: Skyrim

Let’s get the obvious ones out of the way. It’s unlikely that The Elder Scrolls 6 will take place in Skyrim since that is where The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim takes place. While the Aldmeri Dominion, the villainous Altmer organization in The Elder Scrolls world, had yet to take over Skyrim, it’s unlikely that Bethesda would return to the land of the Nords right away.

Unlikely Elder Scrolls 6 Setting: Cyrodiil

Another obvious unlikely setting for The Elder Scrolls 6 is Cyrodiil. Home of the Imperials, Cyrodiil was the main setting of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Cyrodiil is also where The Great War occurred. According to Cicero, a member of the Dark Brotherhood, Cyrodiil is still ravaged with violence. The status of Emperor Titus Mede II is also unknown. While it could be interesting to see the Aldmeri Dominion defile the White-Gold Concordat and return to the Imperial province to attempt another takeover, it’s unlikely Bethesda would go this route.

Unlikely Elder Scrolls 6 Setting: Morrowind

The final obvious unlikely setting for The Elder Scrolls 6 is Morrowind. Home of the Dunmer, or Dark Elves, Morrowind is the setting of The Elder Scrolls III. The province is mostly ravaged thanks to Red Year and the Argonian invasion during the fourth era, leaving the Dunmer natives to seek refuge in Solstheim and Skyrim.

Unlikely Elder Scrolls 6 Setting: Valenwood

While Skyrim, Cyrodiil, and Morrowind are unlikely settings for The Elder Scrolls 6 because they’re primary settings for other games, Valenwood is an unlikely contender because of its geography.

In the brief teaser for The Elder Scrolls 6, the environment shown consists of arid plains, lush greens, and mountains. Valenwood, home of the Bosmer or Wood Elves, is a province that primarily has rainforests and swamps, a stark contrast from what was shown in the teaser, thus likely ruling Valenwood out.

Unlikely Elder Scrolls 6 Setting: Elsweyr

Home of the feline race of beings known as Khajit, Elsweyr is a region that is half desert, half jungle. With the province being ruled by the Aldmeri Dominion and the Khajit people being active supporters of the Dominion, it is unlikely that players will get to explore the lands of Elsweyr in The Elder Scrolls 6.

Possible Elder Scrolls 6 Setting: Black Marsh

Home of the Argonians, Black Marsh is a province filled with inward waterways and swamps, the total opposite of the arid plains, lush greens, and mountains shown in The Elder Scrolls 6 teaser. While it would make sense to rule out Black Marsh because of its geography, it is an independent province, having seceded from the Empire during the Oblivion Crisis. The Argonians also appear to be neutral when it comes to the conflict between the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion. If Black Marsh is the location of The Elder Scrolls 6, perhaps players will once again find themselves choosing a side. Hopefully there are no lusty Argonian maids there.

Likely Elder Scrolls 6 Setting: High Rock

One of the provinces that fans speculate to be the setting of The Elder Scrolls 6 is High Rock. This is based on the information given in the brief Elder Scrolls 6 teaser. While the teaser didn’t reveal much, longtime players of the The Elder Scrolls series believe that the land shown in the trailer is part of High Rock.

Although High Rock was one of the settings in The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, as of the events in Skyrim, High Rock hasn’t been touched by the Aldmeri Dominion. If High Rock is the setting of The Elder Scrolls 6 like players speculate, perhaps a magical war between the native Bretons and the Aldermi Dominion could occur.

Likely Elder Scrolls 6 Setting: Hammerfell

The other province that players speculate to be the setting of The Elder Scrolls 6 is Hammerfell. While it was also featured in The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, having Hammerfell as the setting for The Elder Scrolls 6 makes sense. Upon the signing of the White-Gold Concordat by Emperor Titus Mede II, the Aldermi Dominion was given control of parts of Hammerfell. Not accepting the Dominion’s rule, Hammerfell’s natives, the Redguards, fought the Dominion to a standstill, which forced the Dominion to leave the province. So far, the Redguards have been the only people to not only stand a chance against the Aldmeri Dominion, but cause them to retreat. If Hammerfell is the setting of The Elder Scrolls 6, players could see a decisive battle between the warrior Redguards and the magical Altmer.

Most Likely Elder Scrolls 6 Setting: Summerset Isles

The Summerset Isles seems like a good fit when setting the stage for the inevitable war that pits the player against the Aldmeri Dominion. Home to the Altmer, or High Elves, the Summerset Isles is a province of islands filled with green lands, farmlands, woodland parks, ancient towers, and manors. In The Elder Scrolls V: Skrim, should the Stormcloaks win the civil war, Galmar Stone-Fist will mention the plans to invade the Summer Isles in the future. Should a Stormcloak victory in Skyrim be canon, it would make sense to have Summerset Isles be the home of The Elder Scrolls 6.

The Elder Scrolls 6 is likely years away from being released, but the prospect of it being the most advanced Elder Scrolls game ever created can leave players eagerly anticipating its arrival. There are various directions Bethesda can go regarding the game’s location, story, and gameplay. While players might not know where The Elder Scrolls 6 takes place, they can expect another grand adventure in the world of Tamriel.
