Big news recently came for Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans. The game is receiving a final, massive free content update on November 5 alongside its first paid DLC. There is a huge number of new features in Animal Crossing‘s 2.0 update, but existing features are also getting improved, such as the ability to customize the outside of the player villager’s house.
Players have already been able to customize the exterior of their house in a few ways. All that’s required is a quick chat with Tom Nook at the construction consultation counter inside of the Resident Services building in the island’s main square. Players have had the option of changing their roof color, siding, door style, and mailbox. With the coming 2.0 update, however, new exterior options will bring structural changes to the outside of their homes as well.
Changing the house exterior looks to be done in the same way – speaking to Tom Nook at the construction consultation counter. The Animal Crossing Direct that revealed the new update’s content gave a glimpse at three new home exteriors, but it’s as yet unclear if there will be more once 2.0 drops on November 5. There’s also a good chance that these will be the final additions to house customization in New Horizons. Future DLCs could conceivably bring more to the game, but if the Happy Home Paradise expansion is any indication, they’ll be focused on larger game modes instead.
New Animal Crossing House Exterior – Log Cabin Blueprint
The first new exterior shown off in the Animal Crossing Direct looks to transform players’ houses into a log cabin. The log cabin aesthetic gives the house an additional gable and window, even though they don’t affect the interior in any way. This new exterior looks like it would fit right into an island with a lot of trees.
New Animal Crossing House Exterior – Seaside Cottage Design
The second new exterior that was shown off for the New Horizons 2.0 update looks like a perfect fit for players who decided to put their house on the beach. A cottage exterior will give players’ homes a rounded, tiled roof. The original house design didn’t really fit in on the sand, even with some of the different siding, so this may give players a more ideal alternative to moving their house location in Animal Crossing off of the beach.
New Animal Crossing House Exterior – Japanese Architecture-Inspired Home
The final new house exterior revealed for the update appears to be the most unique of the bunch. This house shape looks to take some cues from traditional Japanese architecture, offering players a tiered roof. The upcoming content update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is giving players more control over their island’s aesthetics, including these new house shape options.
