October is gearing up to be a big month for horror, including the release of the Thailand-set thriller, Death of Me. Director Darren Lynn Bousman took the helm of the horror story written by Arli Margolis, James Morley III, and David Tish. Two well-seasoned actors headline the forthcoming film—here’s everything we know so far.
Bousman, of course, is best known for his work on the Saw franchise. After writing and directing Saw II in 2005, Bousman returned to the series to serve as the director for Saw III and Saw IV. The filmmaker was then hired to direct the much-anticipated Saw sequel, Spiral, starring Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson. Spiral was initially set to release in May 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic delayed the debut a full year.
Writers Margolis and Morley previously worked together on the 2001 movie, Black Days. Tish, on the other hand, is notable for his previous work on titles like Shrek the Third, Bee Movie, and Celeste & Jesse Forever. Death of Me marks his first professional screenplay, and he will also be serving as a key producer on the project.
Death of Me Release Date
Plans for Death of Me were first announced in July 2018. A month later, much of the cast was hired, and shooting was set to commence. Saban Films acquired the distribution rights a year later so figuring out a release date became one of the final steps. Along with the trailer debut, it was revealed that Death of Me was scheduled to hit theaters on October 2, 2020. In addition, the feature film will be made available on digital and on-demand on the same date.

Maggie Q and Luke Hemsworth headline the cast of Death of Me, portraying the two primary leads. On the TV side, Q is known for her roles in Nikita and Designated Survivor. The actress previously starred in movies like Mission: Impossible III, Live Free or Die Hard, the Divergent film series, and Fantasy Island. Hemsworth, who is the older brother of fellow actors Chris and Liam, is best recognized for his work in Neighbours and Westworld. The cast of Death of Me also includes Alex Essoe, Kat Ingkarat, Kelly B. Jones, and Michael S. New.
Death of Me Story Details
Death of Me follows Christine (Q) and Neil (Hemsworth), a couple vacationing in Thailand who wake up to a startling discovery. With no recollection of the events that transpired the night before, the pair discover a video showing Neil murdering Christine. Seeing as she’s alive, the footage defies logic. They soon learn that they participated in a ritual while backtracking their actions. While stuck in a mystery surrounding black magic, Christine and Neil must also deal with a threatening typhoon heading toward the island with little time to escape.
