No coin is ever spared by Universal Studios when budgeting for rides in the Fast & Furious franchise and in the latest installment, the money-splash is evident once again. As usual, unique automobiles are used, from Roman’s space-traveling Pontiac Fiero to a 16-wheel custom-built Armadillo truck.
A total of 24 vehicles are featured in the movie. While most of them are impressive and beautiful, a few stand out because of their hefty price tags. Dom and his crew get their hands on the expensive machines easily because they have both money and the ability to steal. As for the villains, they can simply afford them.
10 2020 Toyota Supra – $50,000
Han drives the Supra as Mia activates Project Aries. There are many corny things the franchise gets away with and one of those happens with Dom and the Supra. He uses it to flip over Otto’s 18-wheel truck, something a salon car shouldn’t manage.
The Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) Supra has been described as one of Toyota’s finest models. It has a 3-liter turbocharged engine and hits top speeds of 155mph, making it truly fast and furious. The sleek supercar is much more affordable than others of its kind that are likely to draw the same attention.
9 2020 Jeep Gladiator – $50,000
Tej and Ramsey drive to the crash site of Mr. Nobody’s jet in the Jeep Gladiator. They are attacked by the military and while driving away, Tej is forced to drive at a speed of 80mph to avoid triggering landmines.
The Gladiator is truly strong as it can tow up to 7650 pounds. It could have easily managed to pull Otto’s 18-wheeler if it was used in that particular scene. It’s powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine that has 285 horsepower. It can also move from o to 60 in just 7.2 seconds, which is impressive for a truck. And it isn’t too costly either.
8 Dodge Charger Hellcat Widebody – $75,000
The Hellcat Widebody driven by Dom is involved in one of the cheesiest scenes in the movie. In Montequinto, the car famously latches into a rope and is thrown across a ravine in a slingshot, landing on the other side. Dom also uses it to catch Letty from the air when she is thrown off her bike.
The car can reach speeds of up to 196mph, which explains why enough force was generated to throw it across the ravine. The engine is a 6.2-liter supercharged one while the horsepower is 707. It also has wider 11-inch tires that fit its wide body. A new model of the 2020 Hellcat can be purchased for $75k.
7 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk – $90,000
Early in the movie, Dom spots the Trackhawk approaching his home and becomes paranoid. He quickly prepares himself for battle but it turns out it’s only Tej, Roman, and Ramsey, who have come to inform him about Mr. Nobody’s plane.
It’s a shame that the Trackhawk isn’t used in any chase scenes since it accelerates from 0 to 60 in just 3.5 seconds and hits speeds of up to 180mph. Like most Jeeps, the Trackhawk also has an impressive towing capacity (7200). The engine is a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 one. Tej and Ramsey have made plenty of money throughout the franchise, hence the Trackhawk’s price tag being no problem for them.
6 1970 Dodge Charger R/T – $100,000
This specific model is a franchise favorite as it has been used in four installments. In Fast 9, Dodge Charger R/T is seen in Dom’s garage. Dom sits on top of it while replaying the SOS message from Mr. Nobody. It appears again at the end of the movie as Little Brian is playing in the garage.
Classic cars normally don’t come cheap and if he didn’t steal it (as he has done several times), Dom definitely had to fork out thousands of dollars to get it. There are two engine options for the R/T, notably Chrysler’s 440 Six Pack engine and the 426 Hemi. It’s so cool that Little Brian has a toy replica of it.
5 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 – $120,000
At the trademark “family” gathering at the end of the movie, Dom asks Little Brian to wait before saying grace because someone is coming to join them. One of the biggest revelations in the movie thus happens. A Nissan Skyline approaches on the driveway implying that former franchise hero Brian O’Conner is back.
The Skyline’s brilliance is widely acknowledged. Top Gear named it the best Japanese supercar and one of the best cars ever made. The car has a low-slip rear differential (LSD), which helps it move faster on corners. It also has a Multi-Function-Display (MFD) on the dashboard that shows all engine statistics including oil temperature. All those unique features come with a price.
4 2018 Acura NSX – $157,000
The beautiful supercar is handed over to Roman by Sean Boswell, Twinkie, and Earl as the trio help Dom and his crew prepare for the battle against Jakob. Roman and Tej then drive the car to Edinburgh.
The NSX satisfies both petrol heads and environmentally conscious drivers since it has a hybrid-electric powertrain engine that consists of both a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 section and an electric motor section. The total horsepower is a stunning 573. Thus, the price tag doesn’t come as a surprise.
3 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 – $160,000
Otto’s wide range of assets places him among the wealthiest Fast & Furious villains. He drives a Jaguar Project 9 after acquiring the second half of Project Aries. Ramsey knocks the car off the road and foils the villain’s plan to aid Jakob Toretto in escaping. A fuming Otto then drives off.
The Project 9 has been described as the quickest and most powerful road-legal Jaguar salon of all time hence it’s right at home in a movie like this. It has a maximum speed of 200mph, so it’s surprising that Otto didn’t manage to make a quick escape with it. All that might be down to him being a poor driver. Fans of the top-performing car will need plenty of dollars to acquire it.
2 Noble M600 – $250,000
Deckard and Owen Shaw’s mother, Magdalene, has always been quite the talented thief. In the movie, she steals both a necklace from New Bond Street then steals an M600 to evade the police.
Since the car manufacturer Noble Automotive doesn’t make its own engines, the M600 uses a twin-turbocharged V8 Volvo engine. There is a good reason why it’s expensive. It’s hand-built, with a rather unrivaled speed of 225 mph. This explains why Magdalene evaded dozens of police cars in less than a minute.
1 Dodge Charger Hellacious – $1 Million
Dom drives the Hellacious to Edinburgh where he spots his brother Jakob zip lining after stealing the next half of Project Aries from a church. During the chase between Dom’s crew and Otto’s convoy, Dom takes out several cars using the magnets in the Hellacious. He later gives Jakob the car when the two brothers reconcile.
The Hellacious is custom-made for the movie by Speedkore hence it is neither road-legal nor available for purchase at the moment. Its value has been put at a million dollars, which is fitting, considering that it has a rear engine with tear-mounted performance intercoolers as well as a 6.2-liter V8 engine.
