Ginny & Georgia: Paul Vs. Zion: Who’s Better For Georgia?

In the first season of Netflix’s newest hit, Ginny & Georgia, Georgia is torn between her troubled past and the future she’s always wanted. Part of her troubles came from her love life. Although Georgia promised her kids, Ginny and Austin, that it would be just the three of them when they moved to the small town of Wellsbury, those words fell flat when she met Paul. Paul was everything her exes weren’t, and she saw a good future with him.

As predicted, her past caught up to her when her ex-boyfriend and Ginny’s father, Zion, came to town. All those former feelings came rushing back to her as soon as she saw him. The question of whether she would choose Paul and Zion soon plagued her mind and took over her storyline. And while she made a decision by the end of the series, viewers can’t help but wonder if she made the right move.

10 Paul: He’s The Stable Partner Georgia Never Had

By the end of the first thrilling season, it appears that Georgia had been married twice before moving to Wellsbury. She married the owner of the motel she was staying at to regain custody of her daughter, Ginny, and then she married Kenny years later.

With unstable and dramatic relationships, what Georgia really needed was a stable man like Paul. Instead of being with men who didn’t listen to her and made her compromise, Paul gave her a stable pedestal.

9 Zion: They Have A Deep History Together

Georgia met Zion when she was a runaway teen. They met at a bar where they both pretended to be of the legal drinking age. They soon became obsessed with each other and then had Ginny. Because they knew each other during the darkest days of their teenage lives, there’s no one that would be able to fill their shoes in each other’s world.

Even if Georgia does end up with Paul, there are things about her life that she would never tell him because he didn’t come from her world. Zion came from wealth, but he never judged Georgia and only supported her. It’s hard to mess with a history that deep.

8 Paul: He’s Not Going Anywhere

Georgia is a fun and colorful woman, but when things get too complicated, she flees. It’s easy for Georgia to start somewhere new because she’s been doing it since she was a teenager, but it’s harder on her kids. When she and Paul started to get serious, she backed away from him when her sister came to visit.

Paul, however, didn’t take her hesitation lightly and proved to her that he wasn’t going anywhere. He didn’t care that she had an odd sister or that she had a dark past that she hasn’t shared fully. He wanted to learn more about her. Hearing those words was big for Georgia.

7 Zion: He’s An Amazing Dad To Ginny & Austin

The one thing that Paul can never be is Ginny’s biological father. He may love her as his own and respect the young woman she’s becoming, but he can’t fill the shoes of her dad, Zion. Whenever Ginny sees her dad, she lights up and becomes a different person. She’s more talkative, more open, and more willing to talk about her experiences.

As a mother who has a complicated relationship with her daughter, that’s all Georgia wants for her kids. Seeing Zion with Ginny and Austin warms her heart, and she forgets about all the reasons why she’s not with Zion.

6 Paul: Power Couple

Georgia loves having the upper hand and has a need to be in control. With a past as messy as Georgia’s, she can’t leave her life up to chance. She always has a game plan and a Plan B just in case.

Being engaged to the mayor comes with all the advantages Georgia is looking for. She’ll have security, financial assistance, a public persona, and a chance to make some real change. Even if being a mayor’s wife was never on Georgia’s list of things to do, it certainly does make sense for her considering her personality.

5 Zion: He’s Transformed Into A Man She Can Now Depend On

Zion wasn’t the man that Georgia could depend on when she was a teen. In fact, Georgia also wasn’t the woman that Zion could depend on either. They were too young.

However, now that Zion and Georgia are grown adults with their heads seemingly on straight, it could be the perfect time to give their love a second, third, and fourth chance. Zion even told Georgia that she could rely on him now. He’s a professional photographer who could live anywhere, he bought an apartment in Boston, he was writing a book, and let’s not forget that he comes from a wealthy family. Zion and Georgia, if not now, when?

4 Paul: He’s Fantastic With Ginny & Austin

As a single mother, it was touching for Georgia to see Paul warm up to her kids so quickly. He offered to babysit Austin as a friend and ended up having a great time with him. Austin didn’t want a new man in his life, but he warmed up to Paul after spending some time together.

For Ginny, their biggest bonding moment was when he bailed her out of jail. Georgia was too mad at Ginny to get her out, so Paul took it upon himself to do it. Watching him and Ginny have a heart-to-heart on the jail bench spoke volumes for his character.

3 Zion: They Have A Connection That Georgia Can’t Deny

Georgia is a strong woman, but if there’s one thing she can’t deny, it’s Zion. When he came to town to visit Ginny, Georgia slept in Ginny’s bed because she was afraid she would sleep with Zion if she didn’t. And just as things were going well between her and Paul, Georgia followed her gut and slept with Zion. He’s the one person she can’t deny and can’t escape.

Because of Ginny, they’ll always be in each other’s lives. Now, for Paul, that’s a hard pill to swallow. Especially since he knew that she and Zion slept together. Would Paul and Georgia be able to have a stable relationship with Zion in the picture? It’s hard to tell.

2 Paul: He Gets Along With Zion!

Before Georgia and Zion slept together, Paul wanted to meet Zion for himself. With him and Georgia getting close, he figured he should get to know Ginny’s dad.

At first, the dinner was incredibly awkward. The conversation seemed forced and there was clear competitive energy between the men. But as soon as they started talking about traveling, things became more relaxed. The two really hit it off by the end of the night and ended up having a fabulous time together. It’s hard to say if they’ll be best friends, but it’s nice to know that they got along for the sake of Georgia, Ginny, and Austin.

1 Zion: Lives Life On The Edge

Georgia and Zion are constantly running from each other because of their mysterious lives, but they can’t hide from each other for too long. Based on their love of travel, secrecy, and fondness of moving, Zion and Georgia are the perfect pair. Austin and Ginny may even have a better relationship with their mom if they have someone as positive and uplifting as Zion around with them as they moved.

Austin and Ginny’s biggest issue with their mother (besides the lies she tells) is that there’s always a guy in the picture. Zion, however, is already family and part of the picture. They make the perfect pair.
