Grace & Frankie: 5 Reasons Why Frankie Belongs With Jack (& 5 She Belongs With Jacob)

Frankie Bergstein is the insatiable free-thinker from Netflix’s Grace and Frankie. After getting divorced from her husband Sol, viewers weren’t sure if Frankie was ever going to bounce back to her normal self after losing—who she thought—was her soulmate. Thankfully, we’ve seen Frankie achieve amazing things in the series’ six seasons and even find love again.

Jacob was Frankie’s first love after her divorce. He was her “yam man” and grew all the yams Frankie needed for her lube. They may have started their relationship based around their love for farming but it grew into something beautiful. That is until Jacob moved to Santa Fe. The two couldn’t make the distance work and Frankie found herself in the arms of Jack by the sixth season. However, her two men collided and she had to make up her mind: who did she love more? While Frankie ended up not making a decision, we’re taking a look at five reasons why Frankie should be with Jacob (and five reasons why she should be with Jack).

10 JACOB PROTECTED FRANKIE FROM BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF

Part of what makes Jacob such a catch is how protective he is of Frankie. He loves how her mind works and truly sits back as she creates. Similar to her art show and what she wants to eat, he never judges her — only supports her. Anyone who stands in front of Frankie’s sparkle, Jacob typically takes issue with. He stood up for Frankie when Grace was ignoring her ideas and not taking her seriously. He also stood his ground between Frankie and Sol when Sol was making her art show more about him. Frankie’s hippie ways are totally secured around Jacob’s protection, and that’s all anyone could want for Frankie.

9 JACK NEEDS A WOMAN LIKE FRANKIE IN HIS LIFE

Frankie doesn’t need a man to make her a better woman but it appears her presence makes others better. After meeting Jack at a charity event, the two became quite smitten with one another. Once they got to know each other better, it’s clear Jack has been looking for a woman like Frankie all his life, and that’s a compliment to her wacky brilliance. She brings Jack back down to earth and he encourages her many outlets. Together, Frankie is building Jack to the man he needs to be and Frankie is loved for being nothing short of herself.

8 JACOB AND FRANKIE HAVE THE SAME OUTLOOK ON LIFE

Jacob and Frankie totally click. There are not many things they’ve disagreed on in their relationship. Everything from plant-based eating to organic farming to Santa Fe markets to their passions collide in sweet harmony.

We’ve seen her painting as he practices tai chi and have seen them help each other in dark times. Their views on the future were the same and it made them a beautiful couple until they decided to split.

7 JACK AND FRANKIE HAVE A COSMIC CONNECTION

Frankie and Jack may have started off on tense terms but they quickly became fascinated by the other. Once they became more serious and it was time for him to meet Sol, we learned that Robert and Sol were the divorce lawyers who took Jack for everything he was worth. His ex-wife was awarded most of his riches, leaving him in major turmoil. And in an odd twist, thanks to the money Robert and Sol were awarded with from Jack’s divorce, they were able to build a gorgeous deck for the very beach house Frankie lives in now. So, in short, Jack’s money paid for Frankie’s house. Talk about cosmic!

6 JACOB IS INCREDIBLY PATIENT WITH FRANKIE

Whoever interacts with Frankie needs patience. She’s a wild woman with untamed thoughts and follows the wind wherever it takes her. She’s a daredevil, except she does things like sleeping on the beach instead of cross-country skiing.

Nevertheless, Jacob had the patience of a saint with Frankie. He was stood up on two occasions by Frankie and yet came back for more. And when she had her stroke, no one was more worried and sweet-natured than Jacob. He became more than a yam man to Frankie, he was her rock.

5 JACK AND FRANKIE LEARN FROM EACH OTHER

Jacob and Frankie had a lot in common from the start but it wasn’t the same way with Jack. Frankie was able to learn from Jack and took pride in taking it slow with him due to his issues with his own mental health. Likewise, Jack was learning about forgiveness and awareness with Frankie. We all saw how angry he became when he learned who Frankie’s ex-husband was — that was not the kind of energy Frankie needed in her life and she made that known. But later that night, Jack came crawling back and was interesting in growing (and learning more) with Frankie.

4 JACOB WANTED TO CREATE A LIFE WITH FRANKIE

At the end of the day, Frankie chose to stay in San Diego because that’s where her life was. She grew attached to Grace and now that she had a granddaughter, she wanted to be close to her sons. Sadly, that wasn’t what Jacob wanted to hear. He was moving to Santa Fe to be closer to his family and wanted Frankie to go with him. Santa Fe was totally their crowd and made his home her own. Sadly, it didn’t work.

Fast forward to the sixth season, however, and Jacob drove 13 hours through the night to check on Frankie after reading a distressing post on Facebook about Frankie’s health. The thought of losing her was too much to bear.

3 JACK DOESN’T NEED FRANKIE TO MOVE FOR HIM

The great thing about Jack is that he’s local. Unlike her complicated relationship with Jacob, Frankie wouldn’t have to move or worry about moving with Jack. Sure, they’re in the beginning stages of their relationship in season six but viewers could see how attached the two were getting to one another. If Frankie and Jack do make it work, she can take comfort knowing a relocation wouldn’t be in her future.

2 JACOB  WAS WILLING TO RELOCATE IN THE SIXTH SEASON TO SUPPORT FRANKIE

Speaking of moving… Jacob may have moved to Santa Fe to be closer to his family but the minute he heard about Frankie’s failing health (which wasn’t true, by the way), he hopped in the car and drove to her. He even mentioned that he wasn’t going anywhere without her. Being away from her for so long and the thought of losing her was enough to make him realize that moving back to San Diego was a good idea. Frankie was totally struck with butterflies after hearing this.

1 JACK GETS ALONG WITH NICK

We never got to see how well Jacob and Nick got along (or didn’t get along) but we do see Jack and Nick getting along quite well over dinner one night. Grace and Frankie know well enough by now that they need each other in their lives and this would be much easier if their men got along, too. Their dinner together proved Nick and Jack actually have a lot in common and that they could totally hang out without awkwardness, making Grace and Frankie’s lives much easier.
