Halloween Kills Star Praises Her Stunt Double In New BTS Video

Halloween Kills star Andi Matichak shared a behind-the-scenes look at some of the stunt work in the new slasher, with particular praise for her stunt double, Lydia Hand. The new film by David Gordon Green is the follow-up to 2018’s Halloween, a continuation of John Carpenter’s 1979 classic of the same name. Halloween Kills opened on October 15th and has grossed over $90 million at the box office against its modest $20 million budget.

The new film sees the return of stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Matichak, and new cast member Anthony Michael Hall. The sequel takes place immediately after the last one, with the protagonist Laurie Strode facing off against antagonist Michael Myers’ latest killing spree on the titular holiday night. David Gordon Green returns to direct a script he wrote alongside co-writer Danny McBride.

The initial box office returns have been strong, Halloween Kills notably beating out The Last Duel for the top box office spot. The strong numbers indicate the general public’s return to movie theaters following the COVID-19 shutdown. Halloween Kills is also available on NBC’s streaming service Peacock for a premium fee, but it’s clear most audiences are opting to take in the gory spectacle on the big screen. With slashers being a favorite of the Halloween aesthetic, the film shows that audiences still crave the old-fashioned blood-and-guts style of slashers.

With Halloween right around the corner, box office goers are being showered with horror films, MalignantTitane, and Last Night in Soho, to name a few. While all these films have different offerings, Halloween Kills gives the broadest experience for fans who love a jolt. Though not faring well with critics or on Rotten Tomatoes, the film’s box office returns show that even the most basic elements and a few gore tricks can satisfy audiences. The film has been lauded for its creative kills and jump-scares, and with a franchise as long-running as HalloweenHalloween Kills continues the long-held tradition of giving fans exactly what they want. Halloween Killsis now out in theaters and available for streaming on Peacock.
