How Strong Dragon Ball Super’s Android 18 Really Is

How powerful is Android 18 in Dragon Ball Super? Android 18, Krillin’s wife and one of the villains of the Cell Saga, hasn’t had a huge presence in Dragon Ball Super, but she did receive a prominent role in the Tournament of Power, where she fought side-by-side with Android 17 and managed to survive through most of the fighting.

When she was introduced, Android 18 was one of the anime’s most powerful characters. Thanks to a warning from Future Trunks, the Z-Warriors were prepared for the arrival of the two android siblings, with Super Saiyan Vegeta prevailing against Android 18. After switching sides and becoming a hero, 18 remained more powerful than her husband, Krillin, but didn’t become heavily involved in the main story. She did, however, have a brief fight with Goten and Trunks in the beginning of the Buu Saga. Like other supporting characters, Android 18 received an invitation from Goku to fight for Universe 7 in the Tournament of Power. She remained in the fight for a while, but allowed herself to be eliminated in an effort to keep Android 17 from falling out of the ring.

Even though Android 18 was active through most of the fighting, Dragon Ball Super doesn’t clearly define her current power level in terms of how she compares to the other characters. However, her fights with Goku (prior to the tournament), Ribrianne, and Majora provide indications of how far she’s come since Dragon Ball Z ended. Android 18’s greatest feat in the tournament is her victory over the leader of the Universe 2 team, Ribrianne, a character who was strong enough to fight Vegeta in his Super Saiyan form.

So what does this say about Android 18’s power? First of all, it’s made apparent early on in the Tournament of Power arc that though Android 18 may have improved some, Android 17 has made leaps and bounds in his own training, as he can now trade blows with Super Saiyan Blue Goku, something that 18 isn’t capable of doing yet. While 17 and 18 possess infinite energy and were somewhat evenly matched in the Cell Saga, 17 is much stronger than 18 now. Also, though Dragon Ball Super confirms that Android 18 is still stronger than Krillin, the difference between her and her husband may not be as large as it was once believed. Like Krillin, Android 18 has a bit of a struggle fighting the blind Majora from Universe 4. The way that they both have difficulty with Majora suggests that the gap between them has lessened to a certain degree.

Based on what Android 18 is able to do in the tournament, it seems quite possible that she could fight on par with Goku or Vegeta in their Super Saiyan forms, but would be outclassed by anything more powerful than that. Android 18 likely more powerful than the other Universe 7 fighters who were defeated before her elimination, such as Master Roshi and Tien, but perhaps not Piccolo. Who would win between the two of them is debatable and would depend on just how much she’s improved, since Piccolo has clearly made dramatic gains since the end of Dragon Ball Z. Regardless, Android 18 is still a formidable fighter in the world of Dragon Ball, and someone Goku can count on for help – if he needs it – in the next anime series.
