How to Complete Drawing Out the Poison in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

There are many World Quests that will become available over time in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands across the four main locations of the afterlife. Each location serves as the Home World for members of the four Covenants of Shadowlands, but players will need to travel to each one periodically to complete quests, fight off enemies, and earn rewards. With so many things to do, players may want to start ticking quick or easy quests off their list. One of the World Quests in Maldraxxus tasks players with finding and destroying the phylactery of Arin’gore to summon and defeat a Lich. While this doesn’t sound like an easy task, it is one of the shorter and simpler World Quests players can pick up.

The way to reach the phylactery can be somewhat confusing, as it requires the ability to fly, and players can sometimes encounter bugs as they work to complete this quest. Players will need to catch a ride with Grimshadow and face some hostiles in the Bony Spindles. They may also need to wait for other players who also want to try defeating the Lich. As a reward for finding and destroying the phylactery and defeating the Lich, players can earn some EXP and reputation. Here’s how to complete Drawing Out the Poison in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.

Once players receive and auto-accept the Drawing Out the Poison quest, they will need to check the map of Maldraxxus for the location of Grimshadow. He can usually be found north of the Theatre of Pain at 54.0, 31.2. There should be a marker on the map.

Getting close to Grimshadow will allow players to interact with him. Once they climb on his back, he can take them to the location of the Lich at the Flaydewing Nesting Grounds in the Bony Spindles. These are the sharp rock formations just south of the House of Eyes.

Here, players will need to dismount Grimshadow. The Bony Spindles are full of many hostile enemies, including Flaydewings. Players can choose to fight or try to run past these. As they travel up the main path, they should come across a golden egg. The coordinates for the egg are 58.8, 26.5.

Interact with the egg to break it. This will reward players with the Phylactery of Arin’gore. It’s important that players break the egg first and retrieve the phylactery before trying to fight the Lich. It is also important not to leave the area while still in possession of the phylactery, as they won’t receive any credit for completing the quest if they do.

To destroy the phylactery, the player will need to use the item from their bag. If someone else is fighting Arin’gore already, they will need to wait until the corpse disappears before they destroy the phylactery themselves and re-summon the Lich. Even if they engage Arin’gore in battle when another player has summoned him, they cannot receive credit for the quest. After defeating the Lich, they can return to Grimshadow or use a hearthstone to head back down the mountain. For completing this quest, players can earn 8,150 EXP and 125 reputation with The Undying Army.

If the quest glitches, players may need to repeat the fight until it registers as complete. Unfortunately, sometimes this can cause Grimshadow to disappear, and this will strand the player on the mountain, forcing them to either use Character Stuck and be teleported to Westfall or spirit resurrect instead.
