How To Connect Bose & Other Bluetooth Headphones To A Mac

Listening to music on Bluetooth headphones provides an additional level of freedom and Apple makes it very easy to connect Bluetooth headphones to a Mac computer. In fact, it takes just three simple steps to sync a pair of Bluetooth headphones — such as the QuietComfort 35 II from Bose — to a Mac, allowing the user to listen to their Spotify playlist, YouTube videos, and more right from their laptop.

Bluetooth is a wireless technology that connects one device — like a pair of headphones or a speaker — to other devices, like a phone, a computer, or even a Nintendo Switch. In 2016, Bose released the QuietComfort 35 II, also known as the QC 35 II Bluetooth headphones. The latest model in its QuietComfort line, which began in 2000 with the QuietComfort 1. The QC35 II are also noise-cancelling, which means they have the ability to reduce background noise.

Connecting Bose, or any other Bluetooth headphones, to a Mac only requires three steps and the process is the same whether the Mac is operating on MacOS Mojave or Catalina. In addition to being an easy process, another perk is that it only has to be done once. If the user ever wants to disconnect their Bluetooth headphones from their Mac, all they have to do is Control-Click its name in the device list. To get started, the first step is to ensure that the Bluetooth device in question is on, so that the Mac can find the headphones, although it’s important to note that searching for available devices may take a few minutes.

Pairing Bluetooth Headphones With A Mac

After making sure the Bluetooth headphones are on, click on the Apple menu icon, located in the upper-left corner of the Mac’s screen. Then click on System Preferences, which will bring up a separate window. Click on the Bluetooth icon and this will show all the Bluetooth devices that are on, within range, and available to connect to. To make sure the Mac’s Bluetooth is on, look for the “Bluetooth: On” status shown beneath the Bluetooth symbol. Underneath that is a “Turn Bluetooth On” button and clicking that will enable the Bluetooth, if it is not already on.

Once the Bluetooth headphones are on, and Bluetooth is enabled on the Mac, all the user needs to do is click on the headphones when they show up in the device list. For example, if connecting the QC35 II headphones, it will say “QuietComfort 35 II” in the device list, and once tapped, the pairing process will take place automatically. This easy process of connecting Bluetooth headphones to a Mac ensures that a user can enjoy using their headphones without having to worry about any extra cords. It’s an especially useful feature right now, considering how many people are still working from home, and likely to be using headphones more often when communicating with others. It is worth remembering that Bluetooth is a distance-based solution and therefore, works better when in close proximity to a Mac.
