The chance to capture a Shiny Baltoy is fast approaching in Pokemon Go. This title is much different than the mainline titles since not every Pokemon has its Shiny form readily available. New Shiny Pokemon are introduced into the game as part of special events. For example, players were only able to capture a Shiny Tympole once it was release during GO Fest 2021, while its original form was added to the game back in January 2020. In the case of Baltoy, its Shiny form was added to the game in March of 2020 while its base form was included back in 2018.
Pokemon Go players will be given the opportunity to find a Shiny Baltoy due to an upcoming Spotlight Hour. These are weekly events where a specific Pokemon has its spawn rate drastically increased for a full hour. It also provides players with additional bonuses. In this case, players can expect the Baltoy Spotlight Hour to take place on September 14th from 6 pm to 7 pm local time. This Spotlight Hour will provide players with a special bonus of 2x Catch XP for the hour. This is the player’s best chance of encountering a Shiny Baltoy.
Shiny Odds don’t change when a Spotlight Hour is active, unlike the Community Day events. This means players will still need to be incredibly lucky to encounter a Shiny Baltoy during this time period. Here are all the different ways players can increase their chances of finding a Shiny Baltoy.
Encountering A Shiny Baltoy in Pokemon Go
- Run After Each Encounter: Players don’t need to capture every Baltoy they encounter (unless they want the candy) in order to find a Shiny Baltoy. If it’s not Shiny, just run away and try the next one. This will save tons of time between encounters.
- Incenses: This will increase the spawn rate of all Pokemon in the area. The more Baltoy that spawns, the better chances are for players to find its Shiny form.
- Lure Modules: Similar to Incenses, this item will also increase the spawn rate of all Pokemon in the area. It’s recommended to use this item while playing with a friend, since players can shift the responsibility between who activates the Lure Module.
- Fast Capture Trick: Players looking to collect the double XP, and more Baltoy candy, should use the Fast Catch Trick. This allows players to skip the capturing animation while also providing players with the rewards of capturing the Pokemon.
There is a 1 in 500 chance for players to encounter a Shiny Baltoy in Pokemon Go. There might be a Community Day in the future that can increase these odds but for now, this is the best way for players to find it. For now, it requires a lot of luck and patience.
