How to Find (& Farm) The Seer in Borderlands 3

In the looter-shooter community, the Borderlands series and Borderlands 3 are considered high watermarks in the genre. Borderlands 3 is an action role-playing, first-person shooter developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2k Games. Players can choose to play as an elemental wielding Siren named Amara, a beastmaster with animal companions named Fl4k, a gadget crazed operative named Zane, or an Iron Bear battle suit-wearing gunner named Moze. Like previous games in the series, Borderlands 3 has plenty of unique and legendary gear to find and a wealth of skill trees for build customization. Of course, the zany and goofy sidekick Claptrap returns to adventure with players.

Interestingly, even with all the fun and mayhem and madness throughout the main campaign, Borderlands 3 does not have an entirely distinct endgame. This is somewhat surprising as the loot-based genre, mostly dominated by ARPGs, has moved rather noticeably in the direction of endgame content. Games like Diablo 3, for example, have adventure mode where one does not have to replay the entire campaign in order to start slaying monsters for treasure and gear. Borderlands 3 does have True Vault Hunter Mode, and as of April 2020, Mayhem Mode 2.0, but all of these endgame difficulty options take place within the story campaign. In this sense, Borderlands 3 has a Diablo 2 style gameplay loop where one needs to find areas and bosses to farm. Farming simply refers to grinding specific content in search of specific items or rewards. Borderlands 3 definitely has some great DLC content that includes Raid Bosses and additional endgame-style missions, and the Season Pass give players access to this content.

Taking Down and Farming The Seer in Borderlands 3

In Borderlands 3, DLCs provide the majority of content updates to the game. The Seer is part of the Director’s Cut DLC, so that’s an obvious prerequisite to farm this boss. The boss can be found on the Planet Nekrotafeyo in a location called Scryer’s Crypt’s Desolation Edge. The Seer is gated behind a side mission called Mysteriouslier: Horror at Scryer’s Crypt. Listening to Ava’s podcast after completing the mystery mission Ghosts of Karass Canyon will launch the appropriate questline. After battling some Guardians in an otherworldly tomb, The Seer will reveal himself.

The particular strategy for dominating The Seer mostly centers on taking down adds called Heralds, which will heal this boss if ignored. Kill the Heralds to prevent their red orbs from healing the boss. Maintain a healthy rate DPS while dodging the projectiles being fired in the arena. Players have two main methods for farming this fight. Method one, jump off the edge of the arena and reset The Seer. Method two, use the fast-travel icon on the entrance to the Crypt to respawn The Seer, of course, this resets all the trash, but most of this trash can be skipped. Again, it’s a Diablo 2 style of farming: boss runs.

Borderlands 3 is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Google Stadia, PC, and Mac.
