How to Get Gosaku’s Armor in Ghost of Tsushima

There are few things cooler than an authentic set of Samurai armor. Ghost of Tsushima does an amazing job of representing traditional Japanese attire throughout the game but does an even better job of designing all of the different armor sets Jin can find on his journey. Still in its infancy, some players have already decided that Gosaku’s armor is the best of all.

As he ventures up and down the island of Tsushima, Jin will hear many rumors. Some of these rumors will point him in the direction of musicians with fascinating tales to tell of ancient Japanese folklore. Gameplay aside, these animated tales are one of the game’s coolest features. Each of these stories generally involves a great hero overcoming great odds with the help of mystical gear to protect their people, but ultimately suffering the consequences of their dealings with mystic arts. The tale of The Unbreakable Gosaku will grant players the legendary armor set, but they’ll have to do some serious traveling to find it.

How to Get Gosaku’s Armor in Ghost of Tsushima.

While Jin will hear a few tall tales from Tsushima’s musicians, it won’t be until he reaches Act II of his journey that he’ll hear the tale of Gosaku. Once player’s rescue Lord Shimura and take back Castle Kaneda, they’ll want to head directly North to Akashima Village. Hear Jin will finally hear the tale of Gosaku and begin his journey to recover the legendary armor before the Mongols can get their hands on it. This journey is not going to be an easy one by any means, as Jin will have to recover six keys from farmsteads spread across Tsushima’s middle and lower regions. Oh, and each farmstead doubles as a Mongol Territory. Each farm will require players to rescue between three and four hostages. The last hostage at each farm will grant Jin one of the six keys he needs. The farms will progress in the following order:

  • Iijima Farmstead – Ijima swamp (Middle Tsushima)
  • Koshimizu Farmstead – Benkei’s Falls (Middle Tsushima)
  • Yagata Farmstead – Yagata Forest (Lower Tsushima)
  • Kuta Farmstead – Kuta Grasslands (Lower Tsushima)
  • Ohama Fishing Village – Lake Kunehama (Lower Tsushima)
  • Aoi Village – Tsutsu Plains (Lower Tsushima)

As far as rescuing the hostages are concerned, Jin will want to be as stealthy as possible. Taking out as many guards as he can before charging in will leave less opportunity for one to kill the hostage. Of course, should Jin get caught, he can still defend the hostage successfully. Enemies that are a threat to the hostage will be indicated with a red skull above their heads. Rush in and swing at the red skull enemy to keep them from killing the hostage and effectively ending the mission. A well placed Kunai will also do the trick. Another helpful hint is to change the ‘active mission’ to taking the Mongol Territory. This way players will be able to see how many hostages they need to save and where they are. Just don’t forget to reactivate Gosaku’s quest to find the next farm.

Once Jin has acquired all six keys, he’ll want to head for the hill in Akashima (marked on player’s maps). The hill will be guarded by Mongols, however should one approach from the south side of the hill, the Mongols can be quietly and methodically dispatched of with a bow and arrow. Once the area is clear, Jin will have to display a little parkour prowess to scale the hill and obtain Gosaku’s legendary armor. The set will grant players a boost to maximum health and stagger damage, as well as health regeneration upon killing staggered enemies. These boosts will increase as players upgraded the armor at a blacksmith.

Equipped with what might just be the best armor set in the game, Jin can continue on his quest to kill Khotun Khan. Make sure to upgrade Gosaku’s set as soon as one can. That extra pool of health will be the difference between ending a Mongol’s suffering OR having Jin’s suffering ended for him.

Ghost of Tsushima is available on PlayStation 4.
