How to Promote an Advisor in Empire of Sin

Empire of Sin is a game where players can build and manage their own criminal empire. Filled with tommy guns, gunfights, and illegal rackets; the game takes ample advantage of the fact it takes place in the early 1900s.  Players are expected to acquire rackets, deal with local law enforcement, and take care of their gang members.

But eventually, the player will be micromanaging several fronts, managing the crew, and possibly dealing with several rival gangs. There comes a point where the player will want to appoint an advisor. Someone who can make the player’s job a bit easier by increasing crew loyalty. But how do players get an advisor? And what should players look for when selecting one?

How to Promote an Advisor in Empire of Sin

The first thing to do is to raise notoriety. The advisor position is unlocked at 100 notoriety, so all players really need to do is continue playing for a couple of hours or so before the option is unlocked. But if players want their notoriety to raise quickly, then it is recommended that they prioritize the acquisition of rackets or eliminate another gang since they give substantial notoriety gains.

But once that notoriety reaches level 100, then it is just a matter of selecting a viable crew member and appointing them to the position. As with all role assignments like mole and underboss, this can be done by navigating to the crew member’s character menu and selecting the “role” option. The advisor option should be available provided the player is at the required notoriety level.

It is important to note that when an advisor is appointed, that crew member will remain in that position for the rest of their life. This means unless the crew member dies for one reason or another, players are stuck with their decision. Consider all available options and be careful when selecting an advisor. They are not as important as the underboss position, but they are still important in the grand scheme of things.

But what should players search for in an advisor? High stats are an obvious metric, but what players should prioritize above all else when selecting an advisor is their persuasion stat. Since the loyalty buff given by the advisor role can be amplified by high persuasion, it only makes sense to select a character who can maximize that effect.  Although it won’t hurt if the crew member has high stats in other areas too.
