How To Stop The Battlefield 2042 Beta Auto-Firing Gun Bug

The Battlefield 2042Beta is live, but an auto-firing gun bug is preventing some players from being able to play the game once they’re in a match. The auto-firing gun bug treats any weapon or equipment piece like the key bind is being continuously held down. This means that, because the fire action is always active, players are prevented from doing a number of other actions, like reloading, sprinting, and properly using any vehicle during a match of the 128-player Conquest mode.

The auto-firing gun bug isn’t limited to mouse and keyboard users, as it affects controller inputs as well. The Battlefield 2042 Settings have three different key bindings active by default for the “Fire” action, namely left-click on a mouse, Right CTRL on a keyboard, and the Right Trigger/R2 button on a controller. While there isn’t yet a permanent fix for players who have this bug, there is a workaround until EA patches the issue.

To fix the Battlefield 2042 auto-firing gun bug, players should start by unplugging their controller or mouse and keyboard before loading the game. There is another bug that causes the Beta to freeze or crash when a controller or mouse and keyboard USB is unplugged while the game is active, so this should only be done outside the game.

Next, players should launch the Battlefield 2042 Beta and access the Settings menu. They’ll want to open key bindings under “Solider” settings, and then Fire bindings. They will need to select each key binding box and delete the bind.

Mouse and keyboard users should reset the mouse bind to left-click. They should not reactivate the other key binds. There is another bug in the Battlefield 2042 Beta that prevents players from using certain controllers, so the controller key bind may not be able to reactivate in some cases. However, not all players have experienced this bug, so, if the controller works properly, then activate the controller Fire bind again and leave the other two unassigned. Those with early access to the beta through Game Pass Ultimate are safe from this issue, as it has been affecting PC players only.

Additionally, a similar bug has been affecting players that prevent them from being able to stop sprinting in the Battlefield 2042 Beta. The current workaround for this bug is the same as it is for the auto-firing bug, but the Sprint key bind needs to be changed instead of the Fire. Even after fixing the auto-firing bug, some players have been unable to use any vehicle or parachute properly. While early access is still live for the Battlefield 2042 Beta, it will be open to everyone on October 8 and 9.

Battlefield 2042 will release on November 19, 2021, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
