Immortals Fenyx Rising’s Bizarre Adventure Time Character Pack Is Out Now

Ubisoft’s latest release, Immortals Fenyx Rising, has now got a new Adventure Time Character Pack available for gamers and it is equal parts incredible and bizarre. Immortals Fenyx Rising released at the start of December and has gone on to receive high praise from fans and critics. While many have compared it to Nintendo’s open-world epic The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, something that the developers do not mind at all, Immortals Fenyx Rising still manages to stand out on its own as a fun romp through Greek Mythology.

In a contrast to some other releases of 2020 such as The Last of Us Part 2, Immortals Fenyx Rising focuses its narrative on playful banter and humor. Jeffery Yohalem, the narrative director for Ubisoft even cited films such as Naked Gun as inspiration for the action-adventure game. He stated that the goal was to achieve a game that would evoke feelings of childhood joy in the player.

Now, even more color and humor are being injected into Immortals Fenyx Rising, with the release of the Adventure Time Character Pack. Shared on Ubisoft’s YouTube channel, fans can see Cartoon Network’s Finn and Jake from Adventure Time as they venture into a Kingdom that they have never seen before. The duo is soon confronted by Cerberus, the mythical three-headed dog that guards the entrance to Hades. Of course, in true Jake and Finn style, the twosome readies themselves to take on the beast, with Jake transforming into his own version of the hell hound. Alas, our heroes are quickly cast aside, and the foe eventually vanquished by Fenyx. As Jake and Finn stare in awe at their savior, Fenyx scoffs at the “Mortals” before swooping away. Some cinematic gameplay of Immortals Fenyx Rising then rolls, with the new Adventure Time pack crossover shown off. And yes, it is as bizarre as you would expect. Jake is now in the form of Immortal Fenyx Rising’s bird companion Phosphor, Finn is now a very buff protagonist, and Lady Rainicorn is a sturdy and solid rainbow steed.

While this new pack is an exciting, if incredibly odd, addition to Immortals Fenyx Rising, it has left a slightly sour taste for those who brought the Gold Edition of the game. Sadly, for many, the included perks of this particular title have not been fulfilled. The codes that owners of the Gold Edition tried using to download exclusive skins and bonus missions just did not work. Many wish that Ubisoft focused on fixing these already existing issues in Immortals Fenyx Rising, rather than releasing a new pack.

As is becoming the norm with Ubisoft’s business model, Immortals Fenyx Rising has already been reduced in price, even though it was only released two weeks ago. This is great news for those looking for a bright and lively game to escape into as Immortals Fenyx Rising undoubtedly delivers just that, and perhaps even more so now with the Adventure Time crossover available. A word of the wise to anyone after a Ubisoft title in the future though – don’t buy on launch day. Better deals are most likely on their way.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, Stadia, and PC.
