iPhone 13 Color Options: What To Expect With Apple’s 2021 Pro Model

Apple is reportedly developing two new color options for this year’s iPhone 13 Pro series. Rising above the regular iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Pro sports premium specs, designs, and colors. Based on the leaked renders, the upcoming iPhone 13 series is further improving the Pro’s slate of options for Apple fans.

Last year, Apple revealed four different color options for the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max: Silver, Graphite, Gold, and Pacific Blue. Compared to the more vibrant color options for the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 mini, both Pro options feature a more subdued color palette, catering to a more premium audience. Similarly, in terms of finishes, the Pro options reverse the glossy back and matte edge combination of the regular options, with both having a matte back and a reflective edge finish. Though the Pro’s matte back prevents any such blemish, the edges remain a fingerprint magnet for users who choose to forego a smartphone case.

As rumored through a video from EverythingApplePro, Apple is working on both colors and finish for the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Pax, slated for launch later this year. In terms of the already available options, the company is altering the darkness of the Graphite option. Instead of a color more akin to gray, though, the iPhone 13 Pro series will have a jet black option, much more similar to the regular iPhone 12’s black. In addition, Apple is supposedly working on an orange color for the Pro options but, although it has already reached a substantial stage in development, it will not make it to the series’ launch date later this year. Finally, spanning all the color options for the series, Apple is adding a new coating to the stainless steel frame, stopping fingerprints from being so apparent.

Does The iPhone 13 Pro Need More Colors?

Though the iPhone’s Pro options have a more subdued design, a wider variety of color options is always welcome. Currently, only the iPhone 12 Pro series’ Pacific Blue option offers a relatively unconventional color option for consumers. The rest — Silver, Graphite, and Gold — have already proven themselves as staples for the iPhone. The orange option can be positioned as a more vibrant version of Apple’s iconic Rose Gold or as a rehash of the iPhone XR’s Coral option, ensuring that Apple doesn’t stray too far from its roots. Meanwhile, the darker matte black option will help the iconic color stand out even more. The iPhone 12 Pro series currently doesn’t have a truly black option. Creating a dark matte black option will add a better contrast to the current Silver option’s white back.

Separated into their two separate lineups, the Apple iPhone 12 series has broken off the more vibrant color options from the premium market, limiting the audience to simpler options. Experimenting with premium color options will ensure that the premium market will enjoy a range of colors more comparable to the regular iPhone options.
