Jennifer Tilly Joins SYFY’s Child’s Play Series As The Bride of Chucky

Jennifer Tilly has announced her return as the Bride of Chucky in the upcoming Child’s Play TV series. Tilly has been acting since the ’80s, but she became well known among the horror community after she appeared as Tiffany in Ronny Yu’s Bride of Chucky in 1998. The actress would return for three more Child’s Play films, last appearing at the end of Cult of Chucky in 2017.

The Child’s Play franchise has been ongoing since 1988 when Tom Holland’s original movie hit the big screen. Series creator Don Mancini has been heavily involved with the franchise since the original, writing the original, each of the sequels, and even directing Seed of ChuckyCurse of Chucky, and Cult of Chucky. The Child’s Play TV series was announced in 2018, and a year later landed at SyFy. The series was originally said to be a continuation of the Cult of Chucky storyline, but the plot synopsis suggested something different. Supposedly the series will start off with Chucky being sold at a yard sale in an idyllic American town, only for the town to be shocked by a string of murders. Regardless of the story, Brad Dourif is once again returning to voice the killer doll, and so is Tilly.

Page Six got a chance to speak with Tilly at the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection, who revealed that she is returning as Tiffany in Mancini’s TV show. When asked about her return to the series, Tilly responded, “I’m so excited. Chucky is very near and dear to my heart. All over the world, everywhere I go, I step off a plane to a country I didn’t even know existed, and they know one word, and that word is ‘Chucky,’ and they want a hug.”

While Mancini announced his TV show in 2018, a few months later, MGM announced they were making a Child’s Play remake based on a high-tech Chucky doll. The remake got mixed to positive reviews from fans and critics, but Mancini wanted nothing to do with the project. Mancini reacted negatively to the new design of Chucky and even refused an executive producer credit on MGM’s film. MGM wasn’t even able to get Dourif to voice his iconic character, a position that had to instead be filled by Mark Hamill.

While fans don’t know how or if the Cult of Chucky storyline will be resolved, there are multiple ways that Tilly could return to the franchise. Tiffany was last seen in Cult of Chucky driving off with Nica Pierce, who Chucky had transferred his soul into. If this storyline is wrapped up, Tiffany would have to be included. The plot synopsis for the series also indicates that people from Chucky’s past will come to the “idyllic town,” which would more than likely include Tiffany. The Child’s Play series is supposed to be released this year, so fans can only expect to hear more news about the show at this point.
