The original version of the show had separate people playing host and butler, but Martin has what it takes to play both roles. In the original Joe Millionaire from 2003, Paul Hogan was the butler and Alex McLeod was the host. Paul was a host of several shows in the early 2000s as well as an actual professional butler. Alex is an Emmy-nominated host of the design show Trading Spaces with over a dozen hosting credits to her name. Both Paul and Alex were there to help the contestants of Joe Millionaire as they dated one man in a chateau, but the rebooted version has all new faces.

Martin was born on June 11, 1962, making him 59 years old. He has a wife, Paula Andrew, and three children. As his kids are around the age of the leading men and contestants, he will likely be able to give them good advice during their journey to find love on Joe Millionaire. Martin was born in Bury St. Edmunds, England, and has spent much of his life in the UK. Martin began studying to become an actor at just 10 years old. He also learned to play the violin and performed in an orchestra for several years before joining a short lived heavy metal band.

According to his IMDb page, Martin has had a few acting roles in recent years. He had a main role in a 2016 psychological thriller, Forbidden Playground. He also starred in several episodes of a Canadian political drama, Blackstone. Though Martin has multiple credits as an actor, he also has a successful career as a Rod Stewart impersonator. When Martin was working in Hollywood as an extra on several shows, he was offered a job as an impersonator in Las Vegas. Martin has toured all over North America performing some of Rod Stewart’s greatest hits and even wrote an autobiography about life on the road with a family.

Though Martin still continues to record music and sing, he has now taken on the role of host and butler on Joe Millionaire. Martin’s Instagram, @martinthebutler, is filled with behind the scenes moments and shows how he has fully immersed himself in the role. He has met the women, explained the show to the men and even taught them how to dance in just the first episode. Fans cannot wait to see more of Martin’s interactions with the rest of the contestants over the course of the show.
