Jurassic World Evolution 2: How to Breed New Dinosaurs

In Jurassic World Evolution 2, players can have their scientists use synthesis and genetics to incubate dinosaur eggs and craft more species for the park. Unfortunately, synthesized eggs will not hatch into baby dinosaurs, nor will players learn how to breed dinosaurs. Instead, synthesis will always result in an adult dinosaur. Players can get more species for their parks by rescuing and containing these creatures or by synthesizing some of the most powerful dinosaurs using fossils.

Players will need to reach as far as Pennsylvania in Jurassic World Evolution 2’s story mode to unlock enough features to play comfortably in sandbox mode. More operations will be unlocked, like the hatchery, which players can use to hire scientists to synthesize the many different species available in Jurassic World Evolution 2. Players will need to complete some of either Challenge Mode or Chaos Theory to unlock the ability to dig up and extract DNA from fossils that can be used to make more dinosaurs.

To begin synthesizing dinosaurs in Jurassic World Evolution 2, players should construct a hatchery somewhere in their park. They can then hire and assign scientists to synthesize one of a handful of dinosaurs available. To unlock more options, they will need to build an Expedition Center and assign scientists to digs. Once scientists complete a dig and bring back fossils, another scientist or team of scientists will need to be assigned to DNA extraction on the gathered fossils, available at the Science Center. Once 50% of the species’ DNA has been analyzed, that dinosaur can be synthesized at the hatchery.

Synthesizing Instead of Breeding In Jurassic World Evolution 2

The synthesis process makes Jurassic World Evolution 2 stand out from most builder games because it’s detailed. Although players are not able to breed two existing, live-capture dinosaurs, there are many options for customizing the dinosaur’s genome in the hatchery. As players discover more fossils from a dinosaur species in Jurassic World Evolution 2, they will unlock more options to modify the genomes of the dinosaurs their scientists synthesize. They can eventually select the preferred health, social, and combat traits for their dinosaurs.

Once the eggs are synthesized, they have a chance to present with negative traits, like dominant, panicky, or threatening to others. Players can choose which eggs to incubate and raise and which to scrap to create the optimal park. When the process is complete, players get to release the full-grown dinosaurs into the wild or an enclosure.

Obtaining and creating dinos in Jurassic World Evolution 2 is an extensive process. The synthesis mechanic is detailed and offers realistic simulation, but breeding and hatching young dinosaurs are unfortunately not possible. Despite this, Jurassic World Evolution 2 is still worthy of praise for the ways its synthesis feature demonstrates compatibility and combativeness between species and gives players different adaptations to work through as they build their dinosaur empire.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
