Kris Jenner from Keeping Up With The Kardashians was a real-life housewife of Beverly Hills during her marriage to the late attorney, Robert Kardashian Sr. The matriarch has been open about the infidelity that led to her divorce. Soon after she split from Rob, she moved on to Caitlyn Jenner. Kris recently reminisced about how drastically her life changed after she and Robert broke up.
When they got married in the early ’90s, Kris and Caitlyn blended their families. It was the second marriage for Kris, who is the subject of a recent unauthorized biography. She had been married to Robert for 13 years. The former couple had welcomed Kris’s first four children, Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, and Rob Kardashian Jr. During her time with Rob Sr., she had the kind of life that many women dream of living. The future momager and mother of six had a rich and successful husband who introduced her to the good life. She and Robert enjoyed lavish parties and had glam vacations with his celebrity friends. Kris says that she regrets cheating on Rob Sr. during their marriage. She was just a teenager when they married in 1978. She was still experimenting with life while she was married to the famed attorney.
Everything changed when their marriage came to an end in 1991. Kris recently revealed that she had “never paid a bill” during the 13 years she had the last name, Kardashian. “One day, my friend Shelli Azoff said to me when I was going through my divorce [from Robert], ‘How much is your gardener?’ And I said, ‘I don’t know,’” she revealed to the Wall Street Journal. She continued, “And she said, ‘You don’t know?’ That was the turning point for me: I was embarrassed that I didn’t know.” She said that her divorce forced her to grow up. “I woke up one day to responsibilities that I hadn’t had the day before,” she recalled, adding, “And I needed to figure it out. And the good news is, I pay attention … I’m a quick study and I knew I had to get it together.”
Now, she is a successful multi-millionaire with six highly successful children, and the reality star mom feels an “enormous sense of accomplishment.” She said she was happy “To be able to figure it all out and pay my own bills and make my own money and do my own taxes.” Kris added, “There were times when I didn’t have a lot of money, but I was very organized.” Her second ex Caitlyn, who really enjoyed doing KUWTK, also credits Kris with having superb organizational skills. At the time they got married, in the months after her divorce from Rob Sr., Kris helped Caitlyn to get back into the spotlight.
Kris’s ambition has always pushed her forward. After her children became the face of the family’s reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, it didn’t take too long for fans to learn who was really pulling all of the strings. It looks like all of Kris’s hard work has paid off. She’s someone who is in control of her life.
