Loop Hero: How to Unlock The Orb of Expansion (& What It’s For)

Loop Hero is filled with monsters, dangers, and most of all unlockables. The constant repetition creates some fun moments of ‘just one more time’ gameplay. Items gathered through the battlefields are incredibly important for progress throughout the game, and one of the most important items is the Orb of Expansion.

The Orb of Expansion in Loop Hero is an essential part of upgrading certain buildings around the player’s camp. The Canteen, the Potion Maker’s Hut, and the Blacksmith all require an Orb of Expansion for upgrades. Getting one is a bit of a challenge, but with careful tile placement and a prepared character, the Orb will be easily accessed.

Orb of Expansion in Loop Hero

To find the Orb of Expansion in Loop Hero, players will need to defeat four enemies in a single fight. The easiest solution to this is to place a Vampire Mansion tile right next to a Village tile. The Village will become a Ransacked village for three turns. During this time, the tile will spawn four Ghouls and the Vampire Mansion will spawn a Vampire.

If the player managed to defeat at least four enemies, the Orb of Expansion will have a chance to drop. The more enemies a player faces off with, the more of a chance that an Orb will drop. This method will only last three turns though since the Ransacked Villiage eventually turns into the Count’s Land tile and no longer produces Ghouls.

Another option for getting four or more enemies in a single tile is to clump together cards that produce enemies almost every day-cycle. Ratwolves and Spider’s Dens can work well together, especially when placed around a U-turn. Ratwolves will spawn every two day-cycles, while spiders spawn daily. This is a great method for creating larger battles with four-plus enemies. Just be sure the character is ready to handle so many enemies at once. If using a Rogue, evasion is the player’s best friend when farming Orbs of Expansion.

Whatever method the player chooses, players are sure to pick up a few Orbs of Expansion and be able to upgrade their buildings. Before heading into battle, be sure to be properly upgraded and ready, especially players who choose to face off with Vampires. They’re not an easy fight, but can definitely be worth it.

Loop Hero is now available on PC through Steam, GOG, Humble Bundle, and Epic Games.
