Nightwing, Red Hood, Spoiler & Red Robin Get Steamy Variant Covers

Things are heating up as NightwingRed HoodSpoiler, and Red Robin are being featured in hot new variant covers. The former Robins won DC’s Round Robin fan-vote competition for an upcoming comic title and they definitely aren’t disappointing fans. These workout variants are bringing the heat.

Robins will have the creative team of Tim Seeley, Baldemar Rivas, and Romulo Fajardo, Jr. This is a six-issue series that will bring each of the Robins together as they fight a new foe – someone claiming to be the first Robin, who isn’t Dick Grayson. The Bat-Family has long been a fan-favorite DC hero group, but now they’re coming together in one of their biggest challenges – facing what their role as sidekicks did to their lives and what it means for them now.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The variant covers for Robins have been shared by Entertainment Weekly, along with an interview with the series creators. Thus far, four have been released, which showcase Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, and Stephanie Brown, the first four canonical Robins. Not pictured in this series is Damian Wayne, the current Robin and Batman’s son – who is notably underage since he is currently fourteen in DC’s Infinite Frontier continuity. Check out the steamy variants here:

The first and most flirtatious of the covers, kicking off the series, features Dick Grayson – AKA Nightwing – illustrated by Babs Tarr. The cover for Robins #2 highlights Jason Todd – AKA Red Hood – and his postmortem scars illustrated by Nick Robles. Next in the lineup is Tim Drake – AKA Red Robin – on Robins #3, illustrated by Marcus To. Robins #4 will feature Stephanie Brown – AKA Spoiler – in a gorgeous cover by Jen Bartel. This set of covers focuses on each Robin working out, while maintaining their own color schemes. Nightwing is in blue, Jason is in red, Tim is in traditional Robin colors, and Stephanie is in purple.

Nightwing has always been the Robins’ biggest playboy, following in his adopted father’s footsteps. His assets are often on display as a long-running gag which provides quite a bit of fan service. His newest cover certainly continues that trend though not from a rear view. Jason Todd is an underrated fan-favorite Robin with a lot of charm and quite a few scars from his years as a sidekick. Tim has been known to take his role as Robin very seriously, as well as his training, particularly in martial arts. His demeanor and skillset is perfectly captured in this variant. Stephanie is one of the most underrated Robins, largely because she was depicted in the role very briefly compared to the others. She has always been a bit of an outlier, but she shouldn’t be short changed. She’s a great hero and her workout outfit in this cover is gorgeous and practical.

The Bat-Family – like its leader – has been known to steal the spotlight from DC’s other heroes. Given their diverse personalities and individual charms, it’s no wonder why. Each Robin is distinct and utterly stunning in so many ways. Even with their baggage and scars, they shine when they take center stage. Fans can see the Robins (Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, and Spoiler) in action as a team now that Robins #1 is available digitally. It will be available physically beginning November 16.
