One Piece: There Is No Way Luffy Can Defeat Kaido And Big Mom Right now

Warning: Spoilers ahead for One Piece Chapter 1003

Luffy and Co. have gone to great lengths to deal some damage against Kaido and Big Mom, however, things are still looking thin for them. One Piece boasts of architecting huge battles, both on-screen and off-screen. Its biggest war yet is the Paramount War, wherein the Whitebeard Pirates, one of the Four Emperors, clashes with the Marines head on to save Portgas D. Ace. Even though it’s primarily Whitebeard Pirates versus the Marines, other characters join the fray. Luffy, right after breaking out of Impel Down, literally comes flying down along with the other escaped inmates. He even brings Ivankov, Crocodile, and even Buggy with him. Since the Marines are fighting one of the greatest forces in the seas, they’ve also summoned the Shichibukai to help them ward off the trespassers and commence Ace’s execution. But as the series is said to be nearing its end, wars of the same magnitude graces the fans of the series.

Having one of the biggest wars in the series, the Wano County Arc is subdivided into different acts. Luffy has already met and been defeated by Kaido once. After careful planning and execution, the Straw Hats Pirates, along with Red Scabbards, Kozuki retainers, and their allies, manage to raid Onigashima. There are even some unexpected allies that came. Marco the Phoenix and Izo of the Whitebeard Pirates has come to Wano to help fight Kaido. When the battle has started, the allies help the five of the Worst Generation to reach the rooftop and face the biggest threats in Wano – Kaido and Big Mom. Luffy’s fiery new attack signals the start of the battle.

Luffy, Law, Kid, Killer, and Zoro have been revealing their cards one after another to defeat Kaido and Big Mom. Big Mom and Kaido are also reciprocating the gesture by bringing out one big attack after another. However, the scale seems to be dreadfully unbalanced. Law, Kid, and Killer’s attacks combined barely even leaves a dent against Kaido’s tough scales.

Even Luffy’s Fourth Gear doesn’t leave any obvious damage on Kaido, and that’s his current strongest ability… at least, that’s what the series has revealed. The most obvious damage they’ve done is the cut Zoro made using Enma, which was originally Kozuki Oden’s. However, even that is nowhere near fatal.

With Kaido’s almost impenetrable defense, he can easily take whatever Luffy and company send his way, and he’s shown that he can do that. However, being a tank isn’t the only thing he is good at. He also has monstrous strength that rivals even Big Mom’s. And even if he purely focuses on defense, Big Mom’s attacks are nothing to scoff at either. With the rate they are going, Luffy and company have no way of defeating them. But with what One Piece has done in the past, there will definitely be a twist in the future releases.
