Outlander: 10 Amazing Works Of Fan Art To Get You Through The Droughtlander

Look, we hear you. We’re all on the same boat here – it’s been almost a year since the last episode of Outlander graced our screens. And while the season 5 premiere is less than a month away, the closer it gets, it somehow feels like time goes slower. Especially if you’re one heck of an invested fan, this droughtlander has been going on for way too long.

Thankfully, we live in a day and age where plenty of distractions can come your way while you anxiously await the return of a beloved show. You can re-read the books, binge-watch the previous seasons as many times as you want, and find online communities to discuss details and fan theories. Today, we have yet another solution for you to distract your Outlander heart – art! Keep reading to find out ten beautiful pieces of fan art that will make you forget you still have three weeks to go.

10 Forest Love

Kicking off this list is this stunning art piece drawn by the amazing artist Vera Adxer. Adxer’s Instagram is a true testament to her talents as an artist. You can find dozens of drawings inspired by not only Outlander but also Vikings and The Last Kingdom. The way Vera captured Claire and Jamie’s dynamic in this piece is unbelievable.

Look at those two! They’re like two beautiful forest elves who fell in love and decided to spend the rest of their elf lives being happy and blissful. Our hearts are swelling all over again. There might be a few tears. Just saying.

9 Mama & Daughter

There’s a part of all of us that wishes we could get more scenes with child Bree. Don’t get us wrong, we love that the show didn’t spend an entire season recounting the lives of Claire and Jamie over the decades they were apart. There is absolutely no way our Outlander loving hearts could handle that much pain.

But we did love the dynamic between Claire as a mother to tiny Brianna. Thankfully, insanely talented artists such as ellaine exist in this world, and we can be blessed to at least picture what this mother-daughter duo would be up to while Bree was growing up – and looking very stylish, might we add!

8 Dougal Would Be Proud

We still can’t get over the realism of this piece of art. Look at it! It’s like Graham McTavish himself is looking us straight in the eyes with that menacing demeanor of his. Major props to the artist Aneta Lewko, the brain and hands behind what is probably one of the best works of Outlander fan art out there.

Regardless of how you feel about the character of Dougal MacKenzie – because yes, we are very much aware of how polarizing this character can be – there is no denying this right here is art at its best.

7 Endless, Colorful Love

As much as we can’t get enough of realistic-looking pieces of fan art, we can’t deny we have a soft spot for fresh takes on our favorite characters. This one, for instance, is one that we just fell in love with at first sight. Penned by the amazing artist that goes by the name of brielyasmin, this drawing almost transports us into a different dimension.

It’s sweeter and more romantic than extremely realistic pieces of fan art, and we can’t help but imagine what it would be like to see an animated version of Outlander. If any animation studio is reading this article – make this happen!

6 Black & White Claire

What would it feel like to be so incredibly talented as an artist that you could actually go ahead and produce something like this? That was the first thought that popped into our minds once we came across this piece by Jamie MacDougall.

We’re willing to bet Caitriona Balfe would fall head over heels with this depiction of Claire. It’s so realistic we can almost see her breathe. It’s like she will come alive at any minute…and that would definitely come in handy right about now because we simply can’t take another week without an episode of Outlander.

5 The Passion Is Real

Anyone who knows the first thing about Outlander is familiar with the fact that Claire and Jamie Fraser are the purest, most wholesome and passionate couple to have ever existed. Even when they’re just touching foreheads – something they enjoy doing quite a bit – you can’t help but feel overwhelmed by the chemistry and passion oozing out of them.

A round of applause is the least we could do for artist Victoria Rose, who managed to replicate those exact feelings onto a piece of paper with a level of mastery and beauty we could only dream of.

4 Murtagh Looking Sleek

This entire list is just overwhelming us due to the sheer amount of talent that exists in the Outlander fandom. We’ve seen hyper-realistic, black and white drawings, as well as animated versions of our beloved characters.

And this time around, artist brandeewine was actually able to bring Murtagh alive using a single instrument. How can a sketch look this perfect? Murtagh himself would probably frame and hang this art piece in his living room.

3 Jamie “Piercing Blue Eyes” Fraser

Jamie Fraser is a lot of things. He’s stubborn, he’s fierce, he’s passionate, and he is one good looking man. One particular trait that stands out in his face are his piercing blue eyes, that could probably persuade anyone to do his bidding.

And let’s get something straight – drawing eyes has to be one of the hardest things in the world. Let alone drawing them not only to physical perfection but to the point where they actually sparkle. Where it actually seems like Sam Heughan is staring right into your soul. A masterpiece by Vered Thalmeier, an artist you should definitely check out.

2 Claire “Wild Curls” Fraser

Have we praised this fandom and its artistic capabilities enough? Because all the praise in the world doesn’t feel like enough, especially when coming across a drawing of this caliber. And once again, artist lenihrorp only used an instrument. How does one even go about producing something like this with a pencil?

The emotion in Claire’s face is so realistic we can actually feel it. Fanart truly is the perfect therapy when waiting for new episodes of Outlander because this level of realism is off the charts!

1 This Is What Love Looks Like

There was no other way we could potentially end this list. Jaime and Claire are the heart and soul of Outlander, and the talented fans know it. The amount of art dedicated to this ethereal couple would be enough to fill dozens of books, and choosing one to close off the post wasn’t easy.

However, this beautiful drawing by ana_chrom almost brought a tear to our eyes. The portrayal of raw emotion and love is too good to ignore, and if you want to commission your own copy from the artist and hold it while you fall asleep, we would be the last ones to judge you. Just get here already, season 5!
