Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl: All NPC Trades (Locations & Pokémon)

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl remain faithful to their original counterparts in many ways, including the NPC trades across the Sinnoh region. NPC trades are a great way to receive rare or powerful Pokémon, as well as any unique items they might be holding.

Trading Pokémon with NPCs is something that has long been a tradition in Pokémon games, dating back to the first games, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green. Unfortunately, while there are many Pokémon in BDSP that evolve from trading, none of the Pokémon that are received from trading will evolve. However, all traded Pokémon have the benefit of increased XP gains. This makes traded Pokémon some of the easiest to train on any team in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The first NPC trade that is available in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is located in Oreburgh City. Inside the large building next to the Poké Mart is a female NPC that will trade her Abra for a Machop. Machop can be found just north of Oreburgh City before Cycling Road. However, because the Oreburg City Gym Leader, Roark, in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is a Rock-type user, it may be better to trade Machop for Abra after defeating him. Alternatively, players can catch multiple Machop, one for their own team and one for trading.

The second NPC trade is relatively close to the first, bringing players to Eterna City in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. This NPC is also in a building next to a Poké Mart, and he is looking to trade his Chatot for a Buizel. This trade is a great option for players who are just arriving in Eterna City and have yet to defeat the Gym Leader, Gardenia. Gardenia is a Grass-type user, and one of the Pokémon on her team is a Roserade, one of the more powerful Pokémon of this type in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Players can find and capture Buizel in Pokémon BDSP by either using the Grand Underground or exploring Route 205.

The final NPC trade takes place just outside of Snowpoint City, where players can find a female NPC in her home on Route 217. In exchange for a Medicham, this NPC will trade players a Haunter that is holding an Everstone. In most cases, Haunter will evolve into Gengar after it is traded. However, one of the features of the Everstone is that most Pokémon holding it cannot evolve. The only exception to this is the Pokémon that evolve from the use of a stone, like a Fire or Water Stone. Additionally, the Everstone allows the Pokémon holding it to pass down its nature to its offspring after being bred, making it a valuable item for breeding in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
